Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dislocated Shoulder!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Have a shoulder problem dislocated it some time back and due to a few falls have wrenched it again.

At present if I sneeze or cough then it pops out sometimes, if I fall on it then it wrenches it ...

I do a lot of swimming but I have not seen a massive improvement.

Does any one know of specific exercises with or without weights to keep it tight back together?

Short of surgery to shorten a tendon or two, building up the muscle slowly is the right approach. A bit of manipulation from a good chiropractor can help - difficult to sort the wheat from the chaff, but looking at who works with the top local rugby team (Leicester?) might be a start.

roche1800, Can't help with shoulder problems, but if you do a search on here there have been a number of threads or posts about it over the last few months. Have you been to a doctor or physio for professional advice - it sounds pretty serious!

roche1800, perhaps you should read and reply to the last post you started on this instead of starting a repeat post? http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?p=2346856&highlight=dislocated+shoulder#2346856

beequin, "good chiropractor "

???

chiropractic being somewhat made up, I don't see how you differentiate between a good one or a bad one, other perhaps that bad ones kill more people...

under a new name, I have experience of a good chiropractor and can vouch that he could help, but he is not in Derbyshire. I suppose physio might satisfy you?

For reference, perhaps the schools of chiropractic in Bournemouth and Glamorgan Universities are making up their course content - all five years of it?

beequin, it's fabricated. And can be fatal. And you are committing the fallacy of arguing from authority.

I did mine(again rugby), had keyhole but still popped out all the time. Got the full surgery where they cut you open and tighten up the tendons inside - followed by exercise the only thing that will work long term in my opinion.

Just checking. I coached girls lacrosse at school instead of rugby one year, because my arm kept falling out.

Best rugby season ever, but it did get scary out there.

Snap! (Well more squelch at the time). Do they still do the Putty Platt op? I thought it seemed a bit lo-tech even back then.

roche1800,

Hmmmm It may be some time since i looked after an unstable shoulder but i suspect the last thing you will be looking for is someone to manipulate your shoulder.

If it comes out when you sneeze you need a shoulder surgeon to advise you

Can you get over to Leicester, see Clvye Powers, just sorted out my problem of dislocated shoulder which many stated needed pinning. Well, his manipulations, and after 10 years of agony following ski fall, he fixed my problem.
He not far from the train station.

So what I need is something to prevent the shoulder being wrenched if I fall as I now simply tense up when I sneeze.

Obviously I need to avoid land on it as a starter!

Any thoughts on:
