Well, after last season's trip I didn't expect to posting in here again. Having averaged a trip approximately once every seven years I was amazed to be granted permission to go again this winter. She clearly had plenty of fun while I was last time, but hey, whatever it takes.
So now we turn to where to go, it will be another 4 night short break. Did Morzine last time but now we're thinking somewhere in Austria, possibly Kitzbuhel although short breaks tend to be harder find there than in France.
Need to book somewhere quick in case the permission gets revoked.

geepee's suggestion is a good one. More generally, for accommodation in Austria then www.tiscover.com is a good resource.

www.booking.com or www.tiscover.com or for Innsbruck try www.expedia.co.uk - long as you avoid Fasching, big ski race days and New Year you'll have no probs finding somewhere. Also depends on budget, the 4 and 5 star places will be easier to book for short durations.
Other great thing about going to Austria is you can learn about keeping her in the cellar, thereby avoiding any possibility of future permission being refused.

ok, looked into the Ski Armade area and it certainly seems good value. Does anyone know what the apres is like in Flachau or Radstadt? Not looking for wild nights but a few bars and restaurants within walking distance would be good.

geepee, I've sent them an email. The chalet looks perfect just not sure of the location. Can you walk to the lifts and bars? Is it easy to ski without having to use busses to get to the different areas? You're being a great help, thanks.

Nunfa1, When I went for the first time we had a car and drove to where we wanted to go, although we didn't drive the first day as there was too much snow and caught the bus instead. You can get a bus to the lifts from the bottom of the road to the Radstadt lifts. From there you can ski to Alternmakt but would need a bus to go further to my favourite area in Zauchansee. Talk to flangesax as he may be able help on the logistics.

Nunfa1, very good apres in Flachau, 3 excellent restaurants, several pizza type places, at least 3 nightclubs, several bars, a live music venue, live music at the bottom of the mountain in the late afternoon Everywhere within walking distance of most of the accommodation. Happy to provide more details if you end up there.

Ok then, having spent the afternoon searching we basically have 3 choices, Kitzbuhel, Flachau & Radstadt.
We are a group of 4, 3 boarders and me, the lone skier. They are all very competent boarders ( I have to say that as I know at least 1 of them will be reading this) and I'm a reasonable skier. We are after a bit of night life but won't be exactly rocking the night away until 4am every day.
So which of the 3 destinations would you recommend? Having looked into it I don't think it matters too much, each has it merits. If there are bars within walking distance of the Radstadt place then that might clinch it.

Kitzbuhel. Good varied nightlife, good efficient lift system, great skiing.

Kitzbuhel wins on atmosphere that's for sure. Bits of it aren't that boarder-friendly like the run down towards Jochberg - seen loads of boarders being towed along down there. The flat bit off the top of the Hahnenkamm towards Kirchberg is also a towing area. Otherwise not a whole lot in it. When are you going?

Nunfa1, There will be a load of us in the Flachau area the first week of February so a sort of ready made party as well as knowledgeable skiers in terms of where to ski in the area.
Talk to flangesax, it will turn out to be a mega holiday! Transport is not a problem and it opens up a huge amount of skiing stretching over the whole region. Party central is more Flachau and the apartment that holidayloverxx has is only a very short walk across the car park to the lifts if you want to go self-catering. As far as I know (I'm her apartment manager) it is still free.

Thanks to your suggestions on here and especially flangesax, we've managed to sort something. A 4 night weekend break at the beginning of Feb.
To my mind this now means it's an annual event, I might finally be able to justify buying my own ski boots.

Taxi Huber and Habersätter (?) are both locally based and have been used by lots. Ask flangesax who is currently the most reliable. I think the going rate is around 50 Euro and they pick you up at your location on the return with the time being arranged as they deliver you.
