Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

NEW YEAR - Les Arcs Ski/ Board Group

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

We are an established group of friends in our mid to late 30s who ski/ board over the New Year together. Our group has been as large as 20 and small as six. This year we are seven and have put together our own trip to Les Arcs. We have sorted our accommodation and cannot add people to our existing booking but it would be nice to meet some new similarly minded people who may join future trips or just fancy having some people to ski with in Les Arcs this year. So if you are already in Les Arcs and need some ski buddies we would be pleased to meet you with the only stipulation being you must be able to ski all slopes and no newbies!

A little more about us. We are three girls and four boys and three of us are boarders and four ski. All enjoy a bit of apres with occasional over indulgences but we are on a snow trip so pretty keen on our snow sports. All of us go away at New Year because frankly there is no better way to spend the first day of a new year than by getting on the snow and having fun! All of us are competent to very good with occasional crazy behaviour but still safe. Our normal life jobs vary from healthcare, adventure resort owner/ manager, IT contractor to lawyer so we are a mixed bag who have a good dynamic as a group. We always open our trips up for people to join which is why our group has lasted and we all met via Snowheads and other ski forums as solo skiers looking for buddies which is why we post details of our trips.

Solo skiers - if we get a few people responding we are happy to put you in touch to make up a two or four for an apartment but I regret that this time we cannot add anyone to our apartment. Done it before and it all worked out perfectly.

The deal we put together is:

Residence Le Roc Belle Face at 1600 - Self Catering

Area: Les Arcs 1600, this accommodation is a large apartment block very close to the lifts and to the funicular from Bourg St Maurice.

Accommodation: Depends on the apartment you want. We went for an eight person apartment but underrated it to seven to give us a bit more room. The eight person apartment is split between 2 bedrooms and either a mezzanine or bunk style ‘cabin’ built in. The complex has a pool and hot tub included plus one session in the sauna/ steam. You can pay locally for more sessions as required.

We have paid: £2161 for the apartment but at the moment you can also get:

1 bedroom 4 persons (24) £1,738
1 bedroom + cabin 6 persons (26AX) £1,869

Transport:

We chose to take the train from London to Bourg St Maurice.

27-12-13 2009 from London arriving at 0600 28-12-13 BSM - £169.50
04-01-14 2215 Departure arriving 0800 05-01-13 London - £169.50

Massive advantage of taking the train both ways is that you can ski on the first and last day!

Coach to BSM:
27-12-13 from London Victoria at 1900 to BSM - single £125 return £175
04-01-13 from BSM at 1835 to London Victoria - single £130 return £175

No arrival times are given on the website but the journey is about 15 hours. I did this last year and the outward trip was fine but coming back was bloody awful and took 24 hours due to breakdowns and problems en-route. However this is cheap! Google Snowexpress

Flight Optons (sourced on 27-09-13):

Grenoble Outbound
Monarch LGW 0550 to GRN £112 (incl extras)
Easyjet STN 1250 to GRN £92 (plus ski and luggage)
Ryanair STN 1510 to GRN £60 (plus ski and luggage)

Grenoble Inbound:
Monarch GRN 0920 to LGW £160 (incl extras)
Easyjet GRN 0925 to LGW £128 (plus ski and luggage)
Ryanair GRN 1830 to STN £88 (plus ski and luggage)
Easyjet GRN 2120 to LGW £131 (plus ski and luggage)

Transfer from GRN via Bens Bus is £45 single or £76 rtn BUT early Grenoble flights may not be served by the coach so will need to be checked as a private transfer will be £300 plus.

Geneva/ Chambery/ Lyon flights

Cost prohibitive, the cheapest flights are Easyjet and without extras come in at £295. With a transfer that equates to between £370 and £400. I have not been able to find any flights from Birmingham or Manchester for under £200 each way.
