...I ski hard and quite fast on mostly reds and blacks in places like EK, 3V, St Anton, Paradiski. Mostly piste skiing though occasionally off piste in good conditions. Tend to go both early and late season, so have to cope with ice, hard pack, freeze/thaw and afternoon slush. Any recommendations for good all mountain skis please?

I have a somewhat cherished pair of Nordica Doberman SL-Rs that do everything. You can buy them if you like?

Thanks for your replies. I'll have a look at ski reviews online when I get chance and respond if I want to follow up. Any further advice from snowheads on skis that might suit me very welcome.

Would you spend more time off-piste if you have wider skis, or do you plan on staying mainly on piste? My personal preference would be to go wide (100mm minimum) to get the most out of off-piste skiing, but you may not like something that fat if you prefer to stick to pistes. That said my K2 Sidestash (no longer called that, they morphed in to the Annex 108 this season) are excellent on-piste despite being 108mm underfoot, they are stiff and hold an edge on very hard snow.
My advice would be to try out a variety (by renting or demoing), especially if you want to do more off-piste. See how you get on with wider skis, they could be a revelation to you (or you could hate them). Don't fall for the marketing nonsense about X is a piste ski and Y is an off-piste ski or Z is an "all-mountain" ski. A few years ago a 80mm waist would be classed as fat off-piste ski, these days that would be way to narrow to be a serious off piste ski (in the eyes of people who sell them that is). Until I broke them I loved the Atomic Renu on and off-piste, that was about 93mm underfoot. I worried that going up to 108mm would be unpleasant on piste and I was pleasantly surprised.

intermediate, my Dynastar Legend Sultan 85s do what you describe, but offpiste they are never going to compete with a big waisted offpiste ski. That said, I would get a decent piste ski that can cope with the odd foray, and if you are planning a serious offpiste day just rent a pair of wide skis to do it.
To try and ski a 100mm waist ski all the time including on hardpack and ice is frankly a bit silly. I've seen it done, but it didn't look much fun. Many of those advising on this thread may well be very experienced skiiers who can't remember trying desperately to find an edge across an icy patch even on a thin piste ski.

Ive got a pair of Line Motherships that will go absolutely anywhere, think they're billed as a powder ski but for me they are amazing in everything Ive thrown at them from deep pow to hard thick crud to slush and groomers they just blast through anything.
The model Ive got is from 2004, they're my new skis Id imagine the newer versions have improved even more but they may have become more specialized too.
You could be lucky like me and get a pair off ebay for cheap with a pair of Line 1260s thrown in for free, then you have a set of park skis too and should be set for anywhere

medlington, I used to have a pair of Motherships. Also from 2004, until some little scrotes nicked them out of the back of my car. If you, or the OP, were thinking of upgrading I'm currently listening to all sensible offers for my 2011 Line Prophet 100s. Almost good as new, and if you love the motherships you'll love them.
Only selling them because I lost a load of weight and they're too stiff for me.

youve got me so tempted but I think the girlfriend will kill me if I get another pair of skis. Already have 4 pairs and a snowboard but all the skis range from 1994 - 2004 and my new snowboard is from 2007 I think. All my kit is old so something as new as those would be like jumping 10 years into the future. I might need to demo a new pair sometime and see what all this modern technology does.

medlington, yes, that's another reason I'm selling them. Apparently 4 pairs is too many, and 5 is absurd (have my eye on something...).
The new technology is great though, these skis will actually cause helicopters with cameras to follow you, crowds at the hottest apres ski bars to just melt in front of you, women to throw themselves at you, the snow gods to bless your trips and they also carry themselves back to the chalet.
I've now upgraded to a pair that also cause easyjet not to lose them. Worth every penny.

Haha, like it, thats the technology Im looking for! however I dont believe the Easyjet claim, thats just too far fetched.
Seriously though when I upgraded to the Motherships from my old Salomon GS skis it was like a completely different sport all of a sudden so would love to try some new planks. I have just got the park skis drilled so been enjoying the novelty of those in the park at Cas but again theyre from about 2004. The guys from Line Traveling Circus seemed to rate them though

Last year in Argentiere I had a pair of Dynastar Cham 87 which I really liked once I'd got the edges done. The rental shop sent them out with blunt edges and they were dreadful, really dull but after I tuned them on the first evening they came to life. Only reservation is that with the rocker they ski quite short - I could have done with something a little longer but not enough to be bothered going back to the shop.

Dynastar Outland 80 Pro, good on piste and handy in the soft stuff as well, good in slush too

I'm just under 6 foot tall and weigh 12 and a half stones. In new money about 181cms and 78 kilos?
Thanks again for all ideas.
Seems to me several pairs of skis only uses same storage space as 1 decent lawnmower and much more fun!
