Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off Piste in Kitzbuhel

Following on from the off piste in Val Diseir thread, can anyone recommend any good off piste areas / routes in kitzbuhel or any good books about the area?

Thanks

There's actually quite a bit and it didn't seem to get tracked out too fast. Look around the Zweitausender chair and the chair opposite that for very obvious areas visible from the piste. The runs down to Aurach look like they would be good with a good snow fall but we didn't try them when we visited. We also found a lot of open untracked slopes heading down to Aschau; check the bus times before you go though, there's no lift back up.

I haven't been there since my early ski days. A bit short of steep slopes as far as I remember (except bits of the Hannenkam race course).
Still, I may have missed something : http://welove2ski.com/off-piste-skiing-kitzbuhel

Edit Oh yes, having looked at the Piste Map, I do remember some good slopes near the Zweitausender chair.
As far as I know there is no off-piste book for the area.

I've not been there, but if you are looking for off-piste Fieberbrunn seems to be highly rated and is nearby. If you had a car it would be worth a look too.

There is plenty with good snow. The Horn is basically untouched all season and is awesome fun in powder. The ends of pass turn and penglestien areas are good, there are also Ski routes about, all over the area, they are untouched but require a good dumping. no.6 with snow is an amazing alternative to the home run. Oh and to the guy who said kitz lacks steep runs there are plenty, 38 55 and 17 are awesome blacks aswell as the hahnenkamm and thats only incorporating 1/3 of the area
