Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski holiday ideas for a young couple

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
My partner and I are 26 and have been skiing for 5 years. We have always gone with a package holiday in a catered chalet and really enjoyed it but have always been at least 30 years younger than most people there! Whilst we have got on fine with everyone and had a good time it feels like a trip with the parents. We usually tend to pal on with the chalet staff.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for somewhere to go which was similar but aimed at or attracts younger people. We really like the social side of skiing so don't fancy an apartment on our own and a hotel seems like a pricier option and maybe not that sociable.

We like the chalet idea being fully catered which seems the cheaper option. We like the volume of food which you get which is needed after a days skiing so feel to pay separately for the same would prove costly. We like to go out for some drinks in the evenings so it would be nice to have a group to do that with although we would also be happy just to stay in some evenings.

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated Smile

Katy_uk18, just about anywhere! Plenty of lively resorts and hotels about, suggest you consider Soll, Mayerhofen, 3 Vallees, Val D'Isere, Kitzbuhel and go with a bunch of pals rather a 2 if you are that bothered about the age thing.

Katy_uk18, welcome to snowheads. snowHead Try Action-Outdoors who do holidays in a variety of top French resorts, using UCPA centres which are specifically for the under 40s. All inclusive - good food - lessons (up to a very high standard of skiing indeed) if you want. Some centres have double rooms, which would suit you. Do a search here on Snowheads for UCPA - there are a good number of enthusiastic reports.

Plenty of chalet companies around which target younger people. Have a google. Or, dare I say, it drop me an email and I'll suggest a week where we have a younger group booked-in.

Katy_uk18, picking a resort that has a younger groove may help. Big advantage of catered chalet option is that you can befriend the staff which may also help with ski area tips...

Maybe some of the chalet clubs might be worth looking at? The Moris in Val d'Isere used to have a pretty young and raucous crowd - or the Sherpa in Morzine?

Another recommendation for UCPA if you're looking for something a bit more in your age range. Also, VERY good value for money

There are a few chalet companies about that seem to target a younger crowd. I've come across these, which give that impression - but I have never stayed with any of them.
Alpoholics (La Plagne)
Rude Chalets
The Tignes Chalet Company
Chalet Chardons (Tignes)
Hostels will also attract younger guests, you might be able to find some with double rooms. As mentionned, some of the UCPAs do.

I booked a couple of years back with these guys: http://www.catered-ski-chalets.co.uk/

I've booked with them again for this season too! Top quality accommodation no matter where you decide to book and a totally professional company!

We went for Switzerland the last time but are going for Austria next year, had a great time in Switzerland though, would fully recommend!

Hope this helps!

Have a look at the chalet hotels that Ski Olympic have in La Plagne, Courchevel 1650 & Les Arcs. They work on the same basis as a chalet (i.e the catering & free flowing wine, etc) but are bigger so you get groups which may give you some social opportunities.
