Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Beautiful ski photos

Photo gallery in the Guardian today:

"Beautiful Games: wilderness skiing
Shot on some of the most remote slopes in the world, including those of Antarctica, these images by American photographer and adventurer Jim Harris are rather spectacular. The combination of pristine snow, beautiful vistas and daredevil skiing is enough to make us rather envious of his career. His pics are unrehearsed, one-take moments which capture true wilderness skiing as a first-hand experience. 'Photographers who can climb and ski alongside top athletes are the ones who, most often, I think, bring back something insightful to share,' he says. Harris studied biology and worked as an activities course instructor before a 33-day trip across Wrangell St Elias National Park on the Southern Spiral Traverse shifted his professional attention towards photographic, videographic and written assignments about adventures within the natural world"

Apples and pears. Skiing in Antarctica is not what most snowHeads do!

Pedantica, Apples and pears? Stairs? Or apples and oranges - Incomparable?

It's not the locations, it's the composition and quality, in a completely different league. I've been lucky enough to have some of my photos chosen for the SH calendar but think all these 15 images are far superior to any I’ve ever taken.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Oh, OK. Though the location of ski photos does itself lend some assistance to composition, perhaps.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

My husband has a phrase, "you could drop-kick a camera and get an amazing picture" in a place like that. Even so, those photos are a cut above.

But yeah, it'll be a little while before I'm likely to be skiing in places like that...

(I know it's bad form answering your own posts) - but reading some of the comments on the Alaska Trip TR - I'm astounded that the photos on that trip were taken on a Panasonic Lx3... you can see why he ended up as a toggy...
