Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Arrivederci Courchevel

Thanks ESF, I won’t be going to France next year for my annual skiing adventure as there will not be any Ski Hosting available.

My question for all you knowledgeable Snowheads is ...

What is the nearest equivalent resort to Courchevel in Italy, and Austria ?

Specifically, we are looking for:

- Good uplift capacity – quick queues

- Good grooming

- Good intermediate slopes (blues/reds)

- Good snow cover

The high prices in Courchevel tend not to affect us as we usually drink in the chalet.

Any recommendations for large chalets with Ski Hosting are also welcome.

....I’m expecting a consensus of opinion on your answers.

Head to the Dolomites, or perhaps the Monterosa area.

We looked for something similar, with lots of intermediate slopes, and came up with Cervinia. Worth a bit of research, but opinions seem to be about as divided as they are regarding Courchevel Very Happy

Madonna di Campglio may be worth a look. Very chic, great intermediate skiing. Not many chalets in Italy though.

Saalbach-Hinterglemm meets all your criteria with a vast number of blue/red slopes to cruise on.

Chalet recommendations with hosting - Chalet Christina (Ski Miguel) or Pension Enzian (top-notch independent chalet run by a British couple).

Isn't following the rep around banned in Lech? Or is it just St. Anton that has a problem with it?

I'm suprised the lack of a ski host is enough to make you move resorts if you like it there.

But, I like trying new places myself anyway.

Looks like I'm wrong and it is just the SCGB they've got a problem with. In which case Lech/Zurs would be fun if you feel you need ski hosting.

Hosting is generally a problem with the St Anton closed shop. When I was there the January before last, Mark Warner did do it, but had cut a deal only to offer it twice a week, if I remember rightly.

I have suggested Colletts in the other thread for the Dolomites

Cervinia meets your requirements for a decent intermediate ski area. There doesnt tend to be too many chalets from what i've seen, but the SCGB do ski guiding if thats your thing. Crystal offer ski guiding too
