Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

My in-laws live in Newport and are looking at coming to visit us over Christmas in the 3 Valleys. I have been looking on-line for Coaches from Newport/Cardiff to the Alps or for flights to Chambery (we don't fancy the long round trip to Geneva to pick them up) from either Cardiff or Bristol to no avail. Does anyone know about any of these transport options?

Thanks

Janine

Janine,

Why put them on a bus all the way from Newport when they could get a bus from Geneva? Try Bens Bus, I've used them to St Martin and Tignes and was very happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

There are no scheduled flights to Chambery from Cardiff or Bristol. Have a look at http://www.chambery-airport.com/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=84 for routes to/from UK.

J9, I take it you don't like them very much then.

You'd prefer them take a 30 hour bus trip rather than you having to drive for about 3? wink

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I see Flybe serve Chambery from both Southampton and Exeter airports. Both are a modest car journey from Newport, about two hours or so.
Southampton Airport is also easily reached by train from Newport. Exeter Airport is not served by train and is reached by taxi from St Davids Station, or by an infrequent bus.

There used to be charter flights to Chambery from both Cardiff and Bristol, but I don't know if they still run. I think Thompson and Crystal did them.

Charter flights operate between Bristol and Chambery on a Saturday with Thomson Airways. The flight numbers you need to book are TOM6632 and TOM6633.

Flybe also serve Chambery from Birmingham airport, which is a little under 2 hours drive from Newport or just over 2 hours by train. There are direct trains to Birmingham New Street then frequent trains from there to the airport (Birmingham International station).

The flights could be at more 'civilised' times than charter flights from Bristol.

If they are really old; just ring them out of the blue and ask them if they enjoyed it.
