Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I'll need some skis for my White dot Preachers for next season, widest I have seen on line are 140mm but I'll need 155mm to fit the Preachers. Can anyone point me to a supplier?

Thanks

you don't really need full skin coverage at the widest point of the ski, so long as there isn't too much base showing under your foot

I used Coll-Tex skins on my Preachers. They have a cut-to-fit option which work well.

I now use them on my DPS Wailers (112 and 99).

Thank you everybody, 140mm makes perfect sense when I think about it. As the Preachers have a blunt flat nose any tips on which manufaturer's attachment system would be most appropriate?

Preacher is 112mm under foot ?
110mm straight skin totally uncut would actually be fine and give plenty grip under foot wink
Though you might want to go to 120mm and trim, but it wont actually make much difference.

Fatter skis have more surface area (= more grip under foot) so getting a skin to fit the ski perfectly at nose and tail is not as essential as it was in the old days of 200cm skinny straight skis.

I've got 140mm Colltex Camlock Mix skins in stock which many of my customers use on their Preachers.

Black Diamond skins fit fine on my skis with 'big blunt flat' noses, presumably other brands do too but I haven't tried any others.

Some of the BD Skins have adjustable tip loops, tip adjustment behind self tapping screws.

All Colltex skins have an adjustable width metal tip loop with crimping points to lock it at the chosen width:

the G3 attachments also work well with wide skis and weirdly shaped tips

I've been using G3 skins on my preachers for the last season and a half with no issues, I went for the 140 and trimmed to fit.

if you use the Coltex skins make sure you really give the metal loop a serious smash with a a hammer or they can separate (no fun losing one on the way up as I found out)
