Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hillend, Edinburgh

Poster: A snowHead
I was over in Scotland a couple of weeks ago and took the chance to visit the plastic slope at Hillend in Edinburgh, the Midlothian Snowsports Centre. My main aim was to try out the new section of piste which has been added recently but stupidly I didn't get any good photos of that. However, you can just about see something of it on the upper left-hand side of this photo. It starts at the top of the longer button lift (shown in the second photo)...

It was a rather dreich, drizzly day when I was there, so maybe that was why I had the whole slope to myself initially (though the rain did make the slope easier to ski). Or maybe it was because it was the last week before the school holidays. However, after a few minutes another skier did appear, to make life less lonely...

I would recommmend the new piste. It is a good deal less mogully -well, bumpy- than the original run has become over the years. Here's one other view looking down the slope...

I enjoyed my time on the slope and rather regretted that I had only booked one hour (£12) and hadn't lashed out another £5.40 for a second hour. So I can only say to those in the area, go and support your local ski area!

Gosh, nostalgia. I learned to ski on that.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Rainy days are the best on dry slopes. The lubrication makes it so much more slippy!

Ah memories - I've also skied it when there just about enough snow to fill the dendix honeycomb. Makes a world of a difference.
