A fascinating look back at the troubles of the resort of Le Corbier back in '68, a date firmly etched in French memory following the general strike and riots through the month of May that paralysed the country...

Excellent piece, also giving an incite into the way ski 'resorts' were 'developed' in France.

I have skied Le Corbier and La Toussuire. It is interesting now to learn of the local politics and inter village rivalries at the time they were developed.
I suppose the one key message is never do business on the strength of a handshake

Hi PG,
When researching the original article I was told that Christian Guerin was living in Grenoble however someone recently told me that Marie Jo Vallençant was living happily in Chamonix which is not the case - well not unless you call resting in the Chamonix cemetry happy. Jean-Noël Augert who runs a ski hire shop in la Toussuire (or la Tossers if you one of the Natives) would know.
