Yep got the email today - just need to find someone to persuade that they really need a warm up in November (& quickly before they sell out). Just a bit more practical leave wise than any PSB.

snowlamb, ....excellent...I'm trying to schedule another trip to the mudfest-walk-to-snow which is summer skiing in Zermatt - July, or Saas Fee same time....but best laid plans fell apart last summer and instead we wound up climbing on the Wildstubel in hideous weather.

This is terrible - I'm wishing away most of a year of my life so I can go skiing again !!!

Haven't worked out how many sleeps yet but booked into Mayrhofen on 2nd April again for first week in Feb next year

snowball, ...I agree....it's not that healthy to 'wish away' time like that - and I have been very prone to it ... the moment the lifts shut I am busy mentally preparing for when they open. Not good. The remedy for me has been to have mountain-biking and climbing as back-up obsessions. This has worked for me, and I can use the mountaineering as an excuse to (1) buy more kit, and (2) get back to the high Alps. But skiing is the thing....and getting into that first lift of the season.....

Summer skiing venues which - as our over eager youth say 'really rock' (did I really just say that?)....
1 saas fee - up to 3600 m - great snow park
2 Zermatt - up to 3100m - 20km piste and open all year
3 les deux alpes - more restricted opening but great snow park
4 tignes - grande motte for v early morning emptiness
5 passo stelvio - hidden secret skiing in Italian alps - loads of teams go there
6 hinter tux - another 20km year round place like Zermatt
Non skiing kids in tow? Just leave them with Swiss mountain sport in crans at one of the summer camps which they run ... They'll have a great time and learn some French too....

Just finished the last day of this season, excellent day at Stubai, but have to go home tomorrow and start planning for next year.
