Ski in Les-Gets today was perfect! The sun finally came out after some days of non stop snow and the piste look amazing!
The forecast is for more snow for the next days and next week but to be honest I prefer some sun. There is enough snow even on lower slopes going to Les-Gets.

clong, try posting in the 'not the weather' thread in the 'piste' forum, and having a quick look through that thread, as there are a couple of off piste options mentioned.

Visibility down to under 10m here in Avoriaz. Think it will be a late start today if it clears at all. Took a guided off piste jaunt yesterday and eventually ended up in Morgins. Scary how thin the cover is in places at lower altitudes and there was sone stream hopping required. Fingers crissed tgeres some snow mixed in with this fog and the reports of 40+cm being due are accurate!

Sprinkling of snow so far today in Chatel - cloudy and dry at the moment but further light snow showers possible before something a bit more potent tonight. The outlook remains generally snowy with further snow over the weekend and as mentioned above, there could be a lot of fresh snow by next Monday - if the GFS is to be believed (the Morznet forecast is an automated GFS data powered one and like all the other GFS ones will change every 6 hours or so).
edit - the latest GFS run has the potential for 1 m of fresh snow in the Chablais area over the next 7 days. One word of caution is that the US GFS model is different to what the Met office and ECMWF charts are showing by 120hrs - so although there is growing consensus of a lot of snow Sunday/Mon - beyond that is v uncertain - but packed with potential from all models !!!

That's what it is showing on its 00z run (there was more on last nights 18z run) - but its too early to say whether its possible or not as there are too many false dawns with the GFS!

1m gosh.
After getting a phone call to collect a sick child at the top of my first run on Mt Chery yesterday I then stupidly uhmed and ahhed about going up until 0930 this morning. When I finally got up I had a great time. So nice skiing on a bit of snow and slopes are empty. There was no fog but I was very grateful for the extreme low light lenses.
I may have pretended I was a fighter jet going down a couple of runs...
Looking across at Pleney now there is fog at the top station but I can see three people coming down the cat track and that's it.
ETA - and it's snowing again, even in Morzine. Oh yes.

Your can always judge the state of the weather by the frequency of posts on this thread. yesterday, blue skies, no posts till 5pm, today, snow and fog, posts every 30 minutes

Was teaching in Les Crosets and Avoriaz this morning, zero vis on French side and skiing from pole to pole! Blooming chilly too with freezing miizzle icing up goggles to make visibility even more interesting. Improved slightly on return to Swiss side with gentle snow fall by midday. Seems to have stopped now though for the time being.

How is the offpiste in the area nowadays? Is the base good without to many "sharks"? Going somewhere 1.feb, not sure where to go....

bagos, it's ok above 1500m. Most rocks are covered. Below that is not really an option but that may change this weekend.

Lovely couple of hours on the slopes this morning in the Ranfolly bowl. My favorite run was unpisted this morning so had powder to just below my knees on top of a perfectly groomed slope. Deep joy.

Amazing powder day in Abondance today, beautiful sunny afternoon. Still 90% untracked powder at 14:00. Awesome afternoon indeed. I saw only three other skiers in 2.5 hours
Another great day in store for tomorrow I hope.

Just back in chalet tucking into chocolate orange brownies!
Had a great day in Morzine-Les Gets area and tried Mont Chery for first time - wow!
Testing times in the knee deep powder for a basic skier like me but we enjoyed the challenge.
Tried La Grande Ourse for lunch - beautiful but pricey.
A few snow showers and def cold but still a great day.
