Keep the reports coming guys, heading out to Les Gets on Monday 13th for ski-ing Tues/Wed/Thurs, back on Friday Morning.
Both our kids away elsewhere, one away with Nan and Gramps, the other on a Spanish trip with school.
Just me and the boss, getting excited now, seriously cannot wait, hope the snow holds up well.

Isn't there a worry the dogs wotsist might get frozen to a lamp post over the next few days!?
Remember children, never eat yellow snow.

Oooooh poooowwwwder day with zero vis on Swiss side pistes, but ooh hello the forests down to Grand Paradis were fab with a big capital F. Every instructor seemed to be cancelled today and we all made countless powder runs that were steep and deep! Never a day like this for me in a long long time massive smiles

We actually saw the sun and some blue sky this morning up Mont Chery, wonderful wonderful piste skiing with again excellent conditions! Loved the Mont Chery area and well worth a visit for the empty slopes and varied terrain options!

Sun and blue sky on the Chavannes side this morning too - of course the Ranfoilly lift was not running for a bit and the liftie on the Rosta lift was bellowing at a bunch of school children so what's new. The Myrtille was very kind to me - and the Melezes was a lot more user friendly than late yesterday afternoon. Mt Chery and lunchtime and certainly by 3.30 feeling our way down to the Belvedere but run back to the village was good. We are trying out the Navette Nocturne down to the village for the first time this evening.

Not sure if this is covered by this forum but I skied a day and a half in Abondance over the weekend (with a day in Les Gets in between). Loads of untracked powder in Abondance and loads of hiidden places in the trees and off the back. Only criticism is lots of drags lifts and a very heavy unpisted lumpy black off the back. Id reccommend a trip at 10 euros a day for the lift pass. If youre stuck on the pistes it might not be hugely varied but if not its got a lot to offer (and no I dont work for the lift company or the tourist office)

Best conditions for years, a little fairy snow still falling over night in Morzine, may be some snow cannon dust. Van said -12 on the bread run.
Powder was to die for in the field of dreams above lindarets bowl yesterday morning.
1 hour of heaven is worth a whole day of mediocre. But the pistes are getting busier as you would expect in Feb, so it's back to Transfers, Transfers, Transfers now.
Supper with the Flying Stantoni's tomorrow, so a lot of bragging to be done.

DallyPaul, you were going to have confit duck with lentils in red wine. But if you're going to start bragging I'll get some grapefruit in for you

This is straying dangerously off- piste/meteo. May be we need a FS menu thread. Perhaps someone could then turn it into a sticky (toffee pudding)

Snow is lush - we went up to Avoriaz and there was still some nice soft powder knocking about - not too busy neither. Lovely lunch in Chez Flo - keeping in with the PDS food theme - Lamb Shank with provencal flageolet beans and stuffed tomato - pretty bloody top notch plat du jour. And the three bottles of booze. Mr NN managed a shot of each. Poire is the vilest stuff.

Wozzy, its -11.4 here outside at our chalet in Les Gets just after 5. Quite clear, I can see up to the top of Mt Chery, sometimes I haven't been able to see the other side of the road practically this last week, and its been very cold all day. But the sun was out this morning and friends we have had staying since the weekend have actually been able to see a bit more of the mountains.
Tulipe was great today, Arbis over on Chamossiere still good at about 1 o'clock, we hardly encountered a queue all day, and they appear to have been blowing snow like mad as lots of heaps all over the place. Quite a bit on N coming over to the Stade at Morzine.
All looking good for those heading out in the next few weeks - we depart home for the rest of February.

Mmm. that sounds fantastic. so does that confit duck. I'm clean out of ideas - and stuff - for tonight;s supper but am going to have to think of something after those mouth watering ideas.
These conditions are just unbelievable, n'est ce pas?

Forgot to say the Tarte Tartin @ Chez Flo was simply devine!

we have had exactly the same (with mushrooms in the soup) and in addition a cooked chicken from the butchers and salad. Eating everything up now as off tomorrow
but we didn't have the nice lunch at Flo today - just a few vin chaud around the place to keep warm. The restaurant at the lake in Les Gets is so close to home but just so easy to pop in for a drink on the way past.

As with Genepi the cheap stuff is horrible and the more expensive stuff is a world apart.
You need to try the stuff the mobile distiller makes. (The guy who parks in the lay-by at the roundabout at the bottom of Montriond.) It's really fantastic.

Geneva was looking very snowy when I flew in this evening and a balmy -6.
Anyway, just before 1am and it's chuffing cold outside the apartment.
At least it's motivated me to install my boot heaters...

Mt Chery beautiful this morning, all skiing well - still only minus 12.8 back at the chalet now - amazing sunny day. Really cold out there!

BLOODY COLD! We went up to Avoriaz again - wind was blowing hard but the pistes are still in tremendous condition! I wish I could have stayed out longer but my fingers were freezing as I had forgotten my hand warmers so Jalapeno burgers in Changabang beckoned and an early finish! Mr NN managed the Coupe du Monde back to the car - so I am v proud!
