Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

what are your thoughts on St. Wolfgang? We went into the travelagents again today, and the lady who was dealing with us said that Zell am See & a coupleother placesi suggested were not too good for beginners, and as i mentioned a lake, she then found St Wolfgang, i have to admit, they're is a hotel(called Romantik!) right on the lake, and they do a paddle boat hire!!

Anyone been there??

tony23, do they do paddle boat hire in the winter? The boat activities in Zell are mainly in the summer season. The Grand Hotel in Zell is fab though, highly recommended.

The skiing at St Wolfgang is I think a busride away, at either Postalm or Gosau.

Re the travel agents comments, we have taken lots of beginners to Zell and they have loved it.

tony23, St Wolfgang has a very small beginners area which you outgrow v quickly, then you have to get the bus. The village is quite pretty as I recall and you can take an evening trip into Salzburg, which coudl be quite romantic. Tour Operators do "learn to ski" weeks in St Wolfgang, ski's, boots, poles, lift passes, lessons included so can be good value.

Is St Wolfgang where the White Horse Inn is? If so, there's dam' all skiing there, but the White Horse Inn is famous and, I daresay, gemutlich.

If it's the St Wolfgang I'm thinking of, with the WHite Horse Inn, it would not be my first choice for a skiing holiday, nor for somewhere to propose - went there just before Christmas - loads of tourists turning up for tacky craft markets. Quite a traditional Austrian (romantic?) setting but a bit like a film set. And as Richmond says there's v little skiing. imho Zell would be better if you're thinking of Austria
