my Eagles week is filling up and I'm still planning on turning up on the Wednesday eve and skiing with Snowheads for a couple of days

I can turn up either Wednesday or Thursday, I thought the consensus was Thursday but Wednesday is fine by me.
Planning to ski 3 and a half days and get a 7pm flight back from Lyon, Sun or Mon.
I quite fancied giving JT's alternative hotel a try but Edelweiss is ok, where are your Eagles crew staying Arno ?

brian, i'm looking at a gite near Bourg d'Oisans but that will be from Friday evening so I'll be looking for somewhere else for the previous night or two. Was JT looking at the Castillan? Happy to go with that - reduced staggering time between lifts/bar/hotel
On timings, I don't mind too much. Turning up on Thurs evening might be a good idea for me on the basis that I will be having a pretty active week and don't want to tire myself out!

Ski thurs and friday will give us 2 days with Arno, so that is good for me.
I will either get the train into Chambery or Grenoble.

I didn't realise JT, had another hotel in mind. Don't feel pressurised on the Edelweiss on my account - I have a provisional booking, (made largely for an "anti rain" feel-good factor, to counter this awful weather)  ) but quite happy to move.

I'd fired in a provisional email a couple of weeks back to Marlon at the Edelweiss for a Thur-Mon room for me and my bro with the idea of flying back on the Lyon 7am tues flight. Guess we could do wed night back mon morning as haven't booked flight yet

I have e-mailed the Hotel Castillian with the approximate dates, to enquire on availability. I am pretty sure that they accommodate on any days, rather than just Saturday-Saturday, but just to be certain as we know the Edelweiss does.

From memory, prices are about the same & I imagine the hotels will be similar. Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Castillian? I had the honour of being served a large, wheelbarrow size sandwich there, in company of Easiski, and the two Vikings, but have no knowledge of the Hotel.
I am happy to go with either Hotel Castillian, or Hotel Edelweiss, but would like to have a confirmed booking sooner rather than later - to avoid any potential for disappointment  and to ensure a room for every night La Grave can get booked up - especially as we are not Sat/Sat.

fatbob, I think I'm leaning towards going out on the Wednesday and skiing Thu-Sun. I'm guessing Sun late afternoon traffic will be better for my airport return than Monday.
Speaking of cars, if you reckon you can fit a miniature one and you don't need LDW, then sixti are doing cars from Lyon very cheap, eg. €65 for 4 days. Bookable 180 days in advance, so Friday for the 5th March.

I know they are very 'easy-going' , but some persons of disputable parentage may get there before us.

Hmmm, the room sharing is a little complex with everyone on different days. 
Anyway, I booked a room today avec trois lits at the Castillan for me, fatbob'n'Phil for 4 nights, Wed to Sun.
Maybe if everyone sticks down their hotel nights here and says share or no share we can sort something sensible out ?

Happy with Manu and Francois in whatever order. I'd also be quite interested in getting a day in over at Serre Che having seen some of the photos last year but maybe one best held in reserve for the inevitable storm closure day at LG when brian organises a multiday dumpfest Don't know if there is enough local knowledge to manage Serre Che without a guide suitably equipped.

We could certainly get to the photos without much walking ..there might be one 10-15min bootpack up a ridge.
Almost all of the stuff you see from the pics is inbound as it were, from the lifts, so I would be interested to see what else the guides come up with.

With great regret, I think I am going to have to bail on my participation in this. 
Starting a new job later this year so adding the extra couple of days onto my Eagles week is likely to be tricky.
Will still be in the area from late on Friday so I will try to pop over at some point over the weekend. Might even see you on the mountain.
Hope this doesn't cause huge problems - sounds like it might actually make getting a guide a bit easier.
