magic_hat, One day we had bad weather last February and spent all day on that one run. Never bored once, and we had already done it several times previously. Marmottes is another low run but a great fun red.

Frosty the Snowman, Do you know if the Fontaine Froide is open yet (this is the run down to the viallge below La Ros??)

johnboy, no it isn't. I'm following it, want it to be ready five weeks on Sunday
You can see at http://www.larosiere.net and click on "Bulletin Neige". Then in the panel (which may take time to load), click on the link for "remontees mechaniques". That shows the piste and lift status.

Anyone know where the webcam is located in La Thuile? The current picture looks absolutely hammered busy! You'd have to do some serious people dodging to get down there at the moment!

It's a great piste. Steep enough to be fun, but not so steep that you reach Warp Factor if you let the skis run Hope to ski it this season...

Found another La Rosiere webcam... similar to the one that is one the Tourist Office website, but from a slightly different angle and from further away. Gives a nice view i think.
Specially when the snow looks this nice (after 2 weeks of panic over xmas and new year!)

Phew. The report showing temperatures upto 6 degrees with a freezing level of 3700 metres has been replaced by a far better looking forecast. Thank god for that!

magic_hat, Fingers crossed, everything crossed for snow and icy air! - I've skied in rain before and it is absolutely miserable.

magic_hat, We skied La Rosiere at Easter in 05 and it had been very warm for 2 weeks. Very slushy down towards resort but we still had a fantastic time, dont worry . Suspect you can kiss Ecudtes and Fontaine Froid goodbye though.

Still think we will be OK. Skied in Italy this time last year. Day time highs of +6 at 1500m and the snow was good all week.
La Ros seems to have a pretty decent base compared to other resorts at the moment. Loos like there might be some rain, but not torrential.

My theory is that the hot temps forecast for Saturday will heat the dark metal roof up, and heat conduction will cause the snow to slide off

There has been a light dusting on that roof overnight which may ruin Frosty the Snowman's predictions
