Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Skiing under the influence

easiski, All good points, that one should consider. In the example you describe the holiday skier was clearly at least partly if not wholly to blame (I'd say the degree of fault would depend on a number of factors including how clearly marked off your area was?).

My insurance policy does not include a 'get-out clause specifying complete sobriety at all times, so I don't believe they could escape from their coverage of me because I had had a drink or two. Now maybe if I was completely intoxicated Shocked things might get alittle difficult, (but without a blood test even that would be difficult to prove) and since I won't be that's not an issue anyway.

In summary, yes you MIGHT have an accident, yes an insurance company MIGHT try to slide out from their cover, a dozen other dread things MIGHT happen, but as with skiing itself it's a balance of risk/reward. For me having a drink or two over lunch is part of the holiday and does not IMHO constitute unacceptable risk. If I was really trying to minimise risk I wouldn't be sliding down a mountain in the first place! Very Happy

BTW - from the other thread I wouldn't pay any mind to anything said by skiingfool - I thought you showed quite remarkable restraint! Very Happy

that is not my impression - I cannot tell the difference.... that is outside observation at work.... and a couple of them were very sceptical after I told them the others thought that 1 drink was an improvement...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

little tiger, I fall over less after 6 Bombardini Shocked (but then you can't fall over when you are already slumped in a heap) Laughing

P.S. This comment should not be taken as serious skiing suggestion. For all those at home - please don't try skiing after 12 units of alcohol, and for any 8 year olds watching, Axsman is a silly person who should not be listened to. Very Happy

If you're in Stanton, it's criminal to ski past Griabli without stoping for 1. Trouble is you can get stuck, go to sleep back at the hotel, miss dinner and end up in a bar drinking with Russian tourists until chucking-out time. The evening before you have to get back to the airport!
