Mind you, I'm never entirely convinced that these operators know what they are talking about.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thank you for your warning. @ecureuil.
It is all dully declared to the insurers without anything withheld.
It's my car so I have to insure it. He's the main driver so it's located at his post code.
They were fine with it all.

Not sure that you have to be the owner/keeper of a car to insure it, as that would preclude leasing a vehicle which never belongs to you. You still have to insure it.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Re FlexPlus insurance. I initiated this last year and quizzed the salesperson.
It may have changed, it was pre Aviva, pre £18, - trip length 31 days - had to pay a premium to extend that. Ski cover - and we went back and forth on this until I was satisfied ( we're away 60 plus days but don't ski every day) - she was adamant that the ski cover at 31 days would only count on the days we actually skied.... so our trip could be for 31 days (standard cover) plus whatever we topped up with, and 31 days with feet on the slopes.
Just about to sort out cover for this year. We have AAC regardless - quite happy to have that running in the background - just need a more general annual insurance that will also cover the bits that AAC may not.

@Scamper, I was told its 31 days trip length on skiing holiday, which can't be upgraded

I think that if these things are really crucial you need them in writing. You need to write to them explaining that a particular factor (e.g. number of days skiing allowed) is "of the essence of your contract" with them, and that you want the conversation you had on the phone confirmed in writing.
I had such a circular and annoying conversation about my medication that I did this, and had it confirmed that although I was taking a medication which had the effect of lowering blood pressure, I had not been prescribed it to lower blood pressure, though that was a side effect, and that mine was actually hovering on problematically low.
It's a bit of a minefield. We just need to hope for the best. The only time I've had to actually deal with insurance after an accident on the piste they were sensible and flexible. But that was with the previous firm used by Nationwide. We'll see, with Aviva.

Yes, that's what I've said. You can extend the trip length by buying extra cover, but you can't have more than 31 days of winter sports cover, regardless of how many extra days you buy.
However she said the 31 days of winter sports cover can be within a trip of more than 31 days if you don't ski every day.

Example scenario - we go away for 60-70 days. Some of that is traveling, taking 3 or 4 days to a ski resort where we stay for 3 weeks. We only ski for, perhaps, 12 of those days and then move on, maybe we take a week out not skiing before returning to the slopes for another 4 weeks, again, not skiing every day.
From talking to the rep, we'd be insured as long as we hadn't exceeded 31 days skiing.

@Scamper, I understand your scenario, I was told for ski cover the trip length could only be 31 days max with no possibility of an upgrade
Did you get it in writing?

I didn't get it in writing. I expected the recorded phonecall would be evidence enough.
And it was last year - it's very likely that the rules have changed with the new provider - that might explain the contradictory answers we've received.
