I've never seen either a rental or service centre use a machine to test binding settings - they normally just hit the boot with their hand and see if it comes out.

That isn't necessarily a recommendation (and I know you didn't mean it as one).
Speaking as one who works across the pond, the legal requirements are very much different to those on this side.
Dealers and Rental Outlets in the USA are required to record keep, perform pre-season sample batch tests, perform in-season tests and sampling (every 7 days) in order to both comply with legislation, and to maintain any indemnification from the manufacturer for the stock, for a minimum of 5 years, or according to the local statute laws whichever is longer.

What are these Atomic, electronic bindings all about?
How do they know that everything's OK? Does it weigh you and check the bindings are set correctly or is it just making sure you've got your boots in the right way round?

Stan, Welcome to snowHeads.
I've got a hard copy of the DMG90 manual (which ain't that great) that I can unstaple/scan so click on my web page link below & send me your email address via my contact page & I'll send it to you.
I'd heard a rumour that Huber had recently been bought by Wintersteiger but I've not got around to confirming it but you could try the US Wintersteiger importer.
My Huber factory contact is Gerhard Graf at:
Geratebau Huber Ges.m.b.H.
A-6840 Gotzis/Vorarlberg
Austria

AFAIK Huber machines are distributed in the US by Scott Thirkell at Montana Sport at:

I used to take an interest in how many UK ski shops had binding testing machines. Last time I checked the number was tiny.
It would be interesting to know how many UK retailers currently sell new equipment and offer after-sales service on it, and how many have these machines?

David Goldsmith, AFAIK there are only electronic binding torque testing machines in the UK. And at £3k a go it's unlikely that there will be any more.
