crosbie, I Like Loco Loco, we often call in there for a drink. We spent a couple of holidays in Villeneuve before we bought our place, and went there quite often.

MarjMJ, we almost booked one of the apts (10 person), but not everyone in my group could commit.
Tina advised us of the new chef. I think he started on the Monday. A youngish chap, and at least not too shy to discuss his approach to cooking - evidently being more (mis)guided by a thermometer than sight, smell and taste at the mo. Certainly tried very hard to match the very high standard of the previous chef. I should add that my other half (a vegetarian) wouldn't have a bad word said against him, having no recollection of better vegetarian dishes.
Yup, the collie was still there, eager to chase snowballs.

lol. I remember chica well from a couple of years ago. Lovely dog. Food was great in the hotel too and the honesty bar was a greatly refreshing thing to see (and use...)
snowangel... lift pass. We *may* (depends on weather forecast nearer the time and/or conditions) decide to ski on our last day. We don't need to be back at Turin until about 6 or 7pm so can get most of the day in if it's good. What's the price difference between us getting a 7-day pass at the outset vs. choosing to add an extra day on the Saturday morning after our pass expires on the Friday night please?

crosbie, that is the newest one - we were lucky enough to see it in the making a couple of summers ago. I think Tina wants to end up living in it, but I doubt she ever will! There's a rolltop bath with giant Velux window above on the top floor, for viewing stars by candlelight whilst soaking in tub and drinking very cold dry white...sigh... The apt for 8 was good for 6 of us. Very cosy, with a roaring fire. Homely.

carled, 7 days is 212.50, 6 days are 187. If you then decided to ski the sat you can buy a pass for 10% less at 35.30 with your 6 day lift pass.

So basically it'll cost us €10 extra if we hang on as opposed to going for 7 days at the start. OK, thanks for that!

snowangel., isn't it . It is Snowheads EOSB in Val Thorens that week, and we are very torn about where we will be spending the week, tempted just to chill in Monetier. We're arriving on Thursday morning, and leaving 10 days later.

snowangel., I managed to go in the baths once over Christmas.
They were dissapointingly cold both inside and outside. The architecture is wonderful, it would have just been better if they had kept the temperatures the same in the main baths as before.
In the late evenings they weren't busy at all. It was between 4-6 that they were mobbed.

How's the snow holding up out there chaps? Temps look like they're low enough to keep things in good condition, but snowangel mentioned a "beautifully warm day," which worried me! Looks like new snow about the time we're arriving, according to weather forecasts - 27th/28th-ish.

just had a fab day. Arva training in the morning up at le lauzet after doing the usual horsey things.
Then to the baths. They were good, very good. Best bits was the super hot bath, super cold bath, salt bath, haman and sauna. Oh i quite liked the music bit too. We got there at 2 and it wasn't busy, but by the time we left 1.30 i was well bathed out and it was getting a lot busyer. We got what would have been the 23€ price but the jacuzi wasn't working. There was no one up there when we arrived, but it soon filled up.
Couldn't have stayed there any longer, even though we could have stayed for 3 hours
Thoroughly recomended at least once.
carled, Guess what happens on the 26th  It was another warm day, even when burried with snow i was boiling! Only chills right off when the sun dips which is relatively early! I haven't been up since the last dump, too many people here for me to bother, i'll just get frustrated. and if the off piste is rubbish i'd get even more frustrated!
I will be going up on Wednesday as there is a decent flambeau for fragile x, and my little girl goes in the handiski chairs, so i'm gonna go along too

Baths sound tempting. Haven't been since the renovation, so it will certainly be something we will be factoring in...2 weeks tomorrow. Cannot wait, cannot wait.

i do have to admit i think it is a bit expensive for what it is.
the two communal main pools are the same temp as briancon pool (in my opinion) it would cost you 8€ to use the adult gacuzi/suana/haman and the swimming pool at briancon for 2 hours. Monetier is 17€ for two hours and that is without the adult parts.
However going once is definately worth it!

piste conditions as reported by my daughter age 8. Its a little bit icy up there mummy! Bless!
I'm not sure i will be giving any more on piste reports, or off piste for that matter. Right now i'm not sure i want to snowboard again. I've just come back from Grenoble. My son fractured his spine on saturday. He's had an operation on his spine and has metal plates holding him together again.
He walked today.

oh Helen, your summer passes are fine. They have a list of all the people who got them. Just go to the ticket office, probably in Chantemerle and give your name and bring a photo. HOpe Jules is doing ok, we can compare notes in April of our hospital runs

He is in good hands, but Julian says the food is not so good, but the café in the Belledonne Hall does reasonable stuff, I used to take him pain chocolat and orange juice. I hope he has a speedy recovery. Whereabouts was the fracture? It is really scary till they get out of bed.

Helen Beaumont, 5/6/7 dorasal vertabret. but then when we got to grenoble they told us just on vertabret. Not finding it a very pleasant experience at this hospital. Nurse was better today but they're just so rushed. not been able to see the surgeon, and they're not telling liam much. This is more like being in a uk hospital but they dont talk english! hopital sud is much nicer! Still i knw he's in the right place and i know they'll look after him well. His dad has flown over and is with him till wednesday when i go back.

snowangel., being the major trauma centre, I suspect they have a huge number of patients due to half term. Surgeon and team usually comes around early evening, and also in the morning well before visiting time. Ask to speak to the chief nurse, she was excellent and very knowledgable. Is he on 5th floor? Jules surgeon was Prof Gay.

I presumed the lack of communication was because of my limited French which just went out the window after my accident. Take him in breakfast and a lap top with lots of DVDs. Snowangel really sorry to hear about your son , got everything crossed that he will be up & about soon.

gary2474, Liam used to clean thoes apps! The Grott has Wifi as does many other places, proabaly also mojo's. Its very very common in this resort. Sorry to be a kill joy but can it snow after liam comes back over the coll please!
JulesB, Great to see you online! HOpe your feeling better. Its definately not lack of french, i've tried ever so hard to get some answers and its unbelievable how no ones seems to know! But as long as they fix him up good that's all i care about!
The good news is he's up and and about (not lots but up) he should be home by friday (hopefully home and not rhone azzure even if that might be easier) He has aslo been told he can start doing sports in 4.5 months, which means he should be able to return to snowboarding if he wants to
