Rather a lot of roads to cross in order to do that.

Is the long term plan to link over to St Jean d'Aulps do you think?

This link over the side of the roc d'enfer has been talked about for years - but im not convinced either Mt Chery or St Jean are busy enough to warrant it. There was also talk about a link down towards Morillon to link into the Grand Massif area.

Lots of apartment owners in St Jean spin this one every now and then.....
Would overnight make the place a gold mine......

@Pamski, good to hear you had some snow; we had none. Well, a few flakes, nothing really. How much did you get?

Great conditions yesterday. Snowed on and off lightly most of yesterday. Just looking out on about 3-4 inches fresh here at 1200m in Chatel and lots of blasting going on again

@pam w, I am hopeless on measurements, but looking out into the darkness it seems about a new 3 inches, the car is completely enveloped and we had it out and cleared yesterday - the plough has just gone past down the road.

@sarah, @Pamski, sounds good. I have to go to Gva and back today, to pick up sister and BiL, so personally I suppose it's good not to have too much snow but I'd be more than happy to deal with 3 inches, and we really need more snow. Just about everything is now open in Les Saisies but they won't be able to keep it all open with the 30 cms we had in the last fall.
Not too bothered myself, as there's plenty to ski on, but one always wants the best for visitors!

exactly right! We have some arriving as well today.
We went round the circuit at Roc d'Enfer yesterday which was doable - maybe I should have not given the better skis an outing for the first time this year but they survived with just the odd dent - and we had to have lunch at the Tavaillon.

The school run up past our house is going quite cautiously this morning - more of two hands on the steering wheel and not a ciggie in one and phone in the other. They all seem to light up as soon as the children are dropped off!

@antoniorivero, Some snow is forecast for Thursday and Saturday to low levels. If you are driving to Avoriaz I expect you will need chains on and I suspect they'll be enforcing that if the snow is in any quantity. Even though they do clear the roads pretty well.
You might also want to see if you can get some winter tyres fitted to your car!! Chains are no substitute.

@antoniorivero, I would be expecting snow down quite low this weekend. One option could be to park at Prodains and take the gondola up instead of driving right up there. I would not want to be without my winter tyres just now. Good luck.

I've heard that rumour about a link to Morillon before. I would be very surprised if it ever happened, but it would make for a massive ski area - isn't Morillon linked to Flaine? Now THAT would be a serious challenge, to get there from Champoussin, and back, in a day.
Sorry for deviating from the weather, but I didn't start it

@antoniorivero a second for parking at Prodains, if you are not comfortable with driving in snow. The road up to Avoriaz is full of hairpin bends and not fun to drive when there is no snow (if you are not an experienced mountain driver). At one point the Super Morzine pistes run in a tunnel under the road, so expect snow under the tyres at that level. Chains are a must.

I have found better places to stop than the family of four boarders on the Morzine bridge to the Fys today - seemed like mum and dad on the left hand side with one board propped up, the other on the right hand side, board propped up, and they were either on the phone or taking photos, and just past them were their two children waiting on their boards - the gap through the middle was pretty narrow.
Other than that a good day out around Les Gets and Morzine - we were a little late out as friends arriving later so a bit of domestics to do first, so were over in the Rosta bowl about 10.15 and it seemed very busy, with lots of school parties. Went over to Nyon a bit later and stopped at Chez Nannon for coffee - it doesn't seem to have the same ambience it used to sadly - perhaps that was due to the party of about 8 English in their with one woman whose voice would cut through steel banging on. After that the snow was lovely down the Chamois and Lievre with nice big heaps left on the sides, and we ended up going down B to Morzine so we know what its like everywhere for taking others around.
Glass of vino at QG (known in our place as GCHQ) down towards Les Gets on the way home.

Loads of fresh powder to be had today up around Avoriaz. Very mogulled by lunch and there were lots of backseat beginners picking themselves up on the blue down to lindarets. Spent 4 hours in total out with an instructor after getting Mrs Gmd back from the medical centre complete with knee brace she caught an edge yesterday at slow speed and somehow sprained her ACL.
Visibility was shocking after lunch so it was tree time around Combe du machon. If anybody is about tomorrow and fancies some company around the Avoriaz area I'll be piste running on my own whilst Mrs Gmd sulks.

Lovely, lovely snow this morning, pity I was out skiing with the local 4 year old. Was out again with some slightly older children and there was lots of lumped up snow but still lovely to ski through. Considering this time last week we were literally skiing on sheet ice having a bit of snow to play with is blissful. No school skiing tomorrow so I'll get to go out on my fun skis and have a proper blat, am very excited!

Evening all - wonder if someone might be able to offer any advice.
I've just booked a weekend trip at the end of March for myself and my two eldest children (11 & 8 ), staying at the Atria-Crozats P&V apartments up in Avoriaz. My question is this - in order to max ski time and avoid weekend transfer I've booked is evening flights for the Friday and are not likely to arrive in Avoriaz till approx 10.30 / 11pm, can anyone advise on the distance to the apartments from where the transfer will drop us off and is there likely to be any carriages / skidoo thingies to help with our bags.
I've skied the PDS a few times on lads trips, any family advice on Avoriaz (restaurants etc) greatly appreciated.
