@sbooker, we had a great day on Friday 6th with Ricu from New Generation. He was really enthusiastic, skied like a God, and got us well away from the crowds and found some decent score to ski ... Despite it being a week since the last snow. Not knee deep powder, but good, challenging and fun. We also had 3 half days with Alpine Experience, one of which was with Henry from HAT. He was good, but I'd go back to Ricu any day ...
I suspect the storm will lift the risk to 5.... But there'll be plenty of side piste to play on!

Latest from Tarentaise Meteo just now for the next two days , looks like the rain snow level will yo yo today . Remember this is for the Tarentaise area , Val , Tignes , Les Arcs, La Rosiere , LaPlagne , 3 V only . Try and see through the google translate .
Eh oh! Eh oh! Eh oh! Forecast for snowy episode: Eh oh! Eh oh! Eh oh!
Eh oh! Sunday :
Precipitation moved slightly in the latest fine settings, and initial precipitation arrived around 6am before stretching since 7am/7:30am this morning.
It snows above 1600/1700m, with already the first cm raised above 1800m.
This episode of snow will be multi-phased with a few moments of rest and precipitation reactivation phases.
The current disturbance is expected to continue until early afternoon, 1pm/14pm depending on sectors with a limit of snowfall still high enough because we will be in the warm heart of the depression.
It will snow on this first part of the episode at about 1500m in elevation, this can vary by 100m depending on the intensity.
In this first phase, the expected cumulative is in the order of 5/10cm above 1800m.
Eh oh! Then a temporary calm down expected between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Rainfall returns from the early evening with intensities that will increase very quickly, a thunderstorm is even possible at the beginning of the evening.
These precipitation will accompany us all night, until dawn, cumulations of rain in the valley will be in the order of 20/30 mm.
Concerning the snowfall limit on this second phase of the episode, early evening it will be 1500m as precipitation arrives then declining quickly to 1200/1300m around midnight then 1000/1100m in the second part of the night, for the r found at the end of the night around 800/900m altitude.
We expect 20cm above 1500m, locally 25cm above 1800m.
10 to 15cm above 1200m and 5cm at 1000m.
Eh oh! Monday :
Temporary calm expected between 8am and 10am before the rapid return of rainfall.
These should accompany us for this last phase of the episode until the next morning, at the end of the night (Monday to Tuesday night).
In this final phase, the longest, the cumulus planned in the valley will be in the order of 15 to 20mm, locally 25mm.
Regarding the snowfall limit, it will be at the return of precipitation around 10h to 700m.
During the afternoon, it will continue to fall towards this altitude, sometimes 600m at the highest intensities.
In the following evening and night, we enter the phase where snow will be the lowest of the episode, it could snow up to 400/500m altitude, very punctually up to 300m.
On this final phase of the episode, we expect 15/20cm above 1500m, locally 25cm above 1800m, 10/15cm above 1100m, 10cm above 800/900m and locally up to 5cm above 600m.
Possible sprinkles up to 400m height.
Eh oh! On this episode the wind will be from the part and will sometimes blow strongly at altitude on the western slopes, some gusts possible up to 60/70km/h, locally 80km/h on exposed ridges and peaks, making conditions sometimes "blizzard" "squats."
Beware of the risk of avalanche that will only grow over the hours.
dessOverall the episode, it could fall to 20/25cm at 1200m, 30/35cm at 1500m, 40/50cm above 1800m and 50/65cm above 2200m.
Join us tonight for the first episode of this episode, however, please feel free to share your photos, videos, observations, footage, etc... for this first phase that is under way on our Tarantaise!
Have a great day everyone!

So it has snowed down to les brev. Surprising amount of snow on piste given it didn’t look much out of the window in levavhet.

Yep, and so it was a good day skiing all the way down to there. Nice snow down to La Daille too.
First day of our hol and a good time had by all - especially when the weather cleared a bit after lunch. We even managed a few powder turns after the visibility improved

A shout out to La Croisse cafe in Le Lac. Great coffee and even better value. We got two large coffees and two croissants for 7.4 Euro. Amazing.
Had a great day today. I was surprised to get some shallow powder turns just off the edge of the pistes. Wonderful.

Great stuff @sbooker. Glad you've had a good day. La Croisse sounds good.
If toasties/coffee and cake are your thing, it's worth a few mins detour from the piste (ski to the bottom of Tufs lift and slide/walk about 3 mins) to visit Roger's bakery in Val Claret.
We were there in July, loved the food and went back this afternoon. Got talking to the gaffer today - he's a one man band who only opened last June and is working all hours to make a go of it. Nice bloke too. (He might even be Roger? )
Best of all the place does fantastic toasties, quiches etc and has a gorgeous cake selection. Lovely coffee too. About €12 for 2 coffees and 2 fantastic cakes (vanilla cheesecake and choc fondant) today. If you go, tell him the retired north east English couple he spoke to recommended it online We're definitely going back this week.

Thank you sir.
If he doesn't, maybe it would be something he'd consider - vegan cakes/soya milk for coffee/vegan croissants. It's certainly a growing market - and the choice is minimal up French mountains.
Is he the place near hotel Curling?

@mountainaddict, you’ve sold me a visit to Roger’s with the mention of cheesecake.
@Old Fartbag, is a vegan croissant even possible? Isn’t butter one of the main ingredients?

The poubelle monitor is showing a good 10cm of new snow this morning on top of the 5cm we got yesterday.
Currently the pisteurs are blasting away to make things safe and there may be a slight delay in opening some lifts.
The skies have a few breaks showing clear blue sky but snow is forecast again four this afternoon.
Have a good safe day

My very unscientific stick my foot in the snow outside home club in Levachet suggests 10cm might be conservative. Am hoping for more as my son is out here for the season.

Yup - she gets them in the local supermarket. You can get vegan everything these days - as they replace the animal based product with an alternative plant based one (that doesn't taste as good).

Agreed. I have started using them. A very large baguette and a pint cost 11 euros. With that you get a free piece of fruit or a choc bar or a coffee. There are some other deals.
In through the door between the Sherpa supermarket and the ESF office. Their sign is on the door.
They have a few tables to sit at.

In the interests of vegan research for @Old Fartbag, it was back to Roger's bakery (yes, it's the one next to Curling Hotel) for après coffee and cake this afternoon Another nice visit.
Unfortunately he doesn't do any vegan stuff - but said there's a cafe (name unknown) in Le Lac that does.
Despite the foul weather (the wind and cold were awful at altitude) we had another good day today, with some lovely powder turns - boot to thigh deep in places. Nice snow all the way down to La Daille.
The storm seems to be set in - so here's to more fresh tracks tomorrow.

Meant to visit last year as they advertise gluten free (and vegan) cakes but didn't get around to it

There are some very pleasant picnic rooms throughout the ski area - with microwaves and even kettles. These are the ones we've come across - there could be more
- Bottom of Toviere gondola at Le Lac.
- Bottom of La Daille gondola, Val D.
- Top of Grande Motte funicular (at far end of the restaurant, on the right just before the steps down to the cable car. It's downstairs and easy to miss).
- Bottom of Les Brevieres gondola.
- Top of Solaise at Val D.
The last 2 are absolutely top notch. Very posh in fact, with comfy settees as well as tables to eat at. The Les Brev one even has electric glove warmers and kettles, as well as microwave ovens. The Solaise one has a snack bar selling coffee, croissants etc.
Here's the Les Brevieres one

@Old Fartbag, I am a bit tired but was going to wait till tomorrow for this review……..
The Box in Lavachet has passed into history as the guys have moved onto other things. But it has been reincarnated as Kodo, an Asian style cafe bar. Kodo roughly means the rhythm of life in Japanese. That’s enough education.
It’s run by Joey who has been in Tignes for a few years. The menu is reasonably priced, has a good number of starters and various curry and noodle dishes. A good number of them are vegan or have a vegan option ( or Chicken, prawn, fish etc). The big plus is they still serve a selection of Sapaudias craft beers. Lost in the Woods on tap! Result.
In summary, very tasty. I had Bang Bang Broccoli, Chicken Massaman curry and a pint of Lost €30 and I was stuffed! Well worth a trip. Being away from the slopes they open at 4.
