The lift for the Rosset coulloir is a free one so hardly a valid reason for denying a refund these days.

Folks, with the gondola between VDI and Tignes closed [due to storm damage?] can anyone tell me how much [approx] it would cost for a taxi-bus for 5 people from VDI to Tignes?
Any local info' would be most appreciated [good taxi companies etc]
Cheers - Cavvy

Avalanche risk was 4/5 today down from 5/5 yesterday. Links to Val D still closed. The lifts only open when the pisteurs detemine the pistes are safe. With the amount of snow we have had over the last 2 weeks it it going to be risky. The more the area opens the more chance someone will take a risk too far and not survive.

Thanks Mrs W, Looking at the lift status for today it looks like the link to VDI may re-open at ~9.45CET.... fingers crossed. With that said it does look like there will be more snow for the first half of this week. We arrive on the 24th so hoping to get some clear days, but as you say if the avalanche risk is still high there's no guarantee that all of the ski area will be open. Having the link available will really make a difference, but as always ...safety is paramount!

Heaps and heaps of the stuff. Be careful off-piste... Avalanche risk of 4 is to be respected.

Hi all - I'm coming back out to Tignes 19th Feb with the wife and children and staying with Esprit at the Chalet Corniche.
Kids and my wifes (beginner) lessons are all sorted through Esprit, but does anyone know who Esprit use for lessons in Tignes? And if so what there more advanced lessons are like?
I've done about 7 weeks skiing but wouldn't mind being in some sort of lesson especially for the social aspect, but looking for something a little more advanced than the standard lesson, perhaps even looking at the conditions a bit of off-piste instruction. Does anyone have any suggestions / recommendations for local instructors / guides that might have something suitable for? Would probably be handy to leave the afternoons clear playing / skiing with the family.

Esprit used evolution 2 for instruction when I was with them in tignes a few years ago. Hubby had a private off piste lesson with them and said it was good.

Thanks Markoncarp, and binkacat, I've made an enquiry today with tdc and I like the look of their 3 day intro thingy to off piste so think I might give that a go. I was booked onto one of their development days (booked through Mountain Sun) back in November with Rorie and had a good time.
Seen Evolution 2 on my travels but no experience of them - do they do the kids lessons for Esprit as well??

I remember - your down the hill in Boises?? We changed the April trip to February, as since we last meet we had a family bereavment and think we are having a memorial type thing in April.
How was the trip in December to Verbier (was it Verbier?), did you get enough snow etc. There's a video on YouTube (and here somewhere) of the Melezes from a week or two ago, with people jumping off the 1st floor balcony into a massive bank of snow!!!
Have a good trip and make sure you let me know how it went.

Sorry to hear about that reded78, hope your all ok.
Verbier was good went from green when I got there to great skiing in a week. Liked the resort but no where near as much as Tignes and Val d'isere.
Snow looks unbelievable now, so can't wait. Just at home deciding what to pack, there certainly be more for a week!
Did you get your January trip sorted as well?

I can't imagine how much you'll be taking for a week if your luggage for 3 days was anything to go by.
Got January sorted thanks - me and 7 others booked for 4 nights in Morzine in a catered chalet, we thought we'd try out a new area. And for tignes in Feb I've just booked a 3 day off piste introduction course - so had better start hitting the gym!
Have a great christmas Annamillennium, and to all those heading over to Tignes!!
