Back home now. Snow was falling as we left but not so much and being blown about in a strong wind. As Mrs W, says the pistes are still in remarkably good nick. The pisteurs have earned every centime this season.

GeorgeVII,
We had 5cm overnight that melted from the roads and pavements by midday.
Its snowing now, with heavy snow forecast for tonight / tomorrow.
Check the webcams tomorrow

Been up at the start of the X Games in Tignes today. Did some nice off piste around the Val Claret area on the glacier and in some of the couloirs. Also over on Spatula above La Daille. Good snow high up, but getting very soft lower down near the stations. Also watched the first slope style event and the finals of the half pipe. Some great moves. Loads of people watching the events and at the party afterwards. Had some light fresh snow in the afternoon, but the vis held up well enough. Another fun day on the hill. I will try and post some pics of today later. Is there anyone else that has been at the games today or around later in the week?

Saw the halfpipe all lit up earlier this evening on the halfpipe with big crowds watching.
snowcrazy, Do keep us updated on the conditions, hopefully there should be some decent snow tonight and tomorrow - if the forecasts are all correct!

Any update on the conditions? Hard to tell on the webcams.
I'd imagine that it's water skiing down to Les Brevieres.
Still a week to go and I'm starting to wonder if I'll be skiing the glacier and not much else.
Oh well, I suppose I can deal with a week's drinking holiday with some skiing thrown in.

That's a bit pessimistic. We're skiing some good snow here below 2000m - you should be fine.

At the suggestion of Schuss in Boots, I am posting a question in here that I hope someone might be able to help me with:
I'm looking to book some beginner snowboarding lessons in Tignes. Preferably in Val Claret.
Is anyone else doing the same and does anyone have any recommendations?
I was going to go with Evolution 2 but they have had little interest shown in Val Claret and so it looks like if I book with them I'll have to get myself to Le Lac everyday. Not far as I understand but I can do without the hassle.

Lithos, It's only five minutes on the free bus to Le Lac. Assuming you get Richard Amory as your instructor it's a small price to pay. My son is the snowboarder in the family and he speaks very highly of Richard.

+1 for this. Rorie's website is http://www.abraskidabra.com/
He teaches skiing and boarding for the ESF, or privately. If he is booked, he will be able to recommend someone who will come to you.

Bar Shaker - from what I hear the snow (especially above 2,500M) is absolutley fine at altitude but soft to slushy lower down.
Can't have everything I suppose.
I'm out tomorrow - is it as warm as the Tourist Office site suggests, will I be OK with a thin jacket?

The snow, on & off piste, is very good. Yes it gets slushy in the afternoon but it is March 22nd and spring is here

Mornings would be best. Overnight freeze giving spring snow as the sun melts the snow

I made the mistake of going to the grand massif last week as it was X games in Tignes - big mistake, it looks like the snow is still OK in Tignes though. I wish I had the time off work to go...

First day in Tignes today - conditions are absolutely fine. Some runs had some great snow on them depending on aspect / timing. Even the lower part of the Sache wad relatively pleasant. Great weather too. Runs of the day were Genepy, Double M and the top part of the Sache. Fornet and Solaise tomorrow. Lovely.

GeorgeVII, I get there tomorrow, will come to the Alpaka one night, prob Sun or Mon. Are you 'known' there yet?
franga, I only like doing Sache in spring conditions. As a boarder, soft moguls are great fun.
Glad the snow is holding up, looks like we have more coming on Sunday.
