At least the Bavarian weather report will come in handy when I'm in Munich. Thanks!
Just looking at the actual weather reports for Lech & St Anton, things are looking good.

@Redwine, it's an off piste route (or rather area) between Galzig and the Happy Valley.

Instead of flying back home from St Anton tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if we are stuck in resort with the amount of snow which has come down today! Lots and lots of loose white fluffy stuff.
For those of you on your way out for next week, enjoy .

We've had a good holiday.
Stanton came up trumps with some great advice on things to do
Inghams' chalet staff (Chalet Markus) have been fab, don't know how they could do such a good Xmas dinner in a tiny kitchen but it was great. Very friendly, very helpful, very pleasant people.
Chalet was half full, and with 3 other families with similar age kids to ours, plus another couple. So very friendly, loads of space, biggest room "read 6 room suite" I've ever been in, 5 dual aspect windows and balcony - all for 3 people.
So shame to be missing the lovely snow but we'll be heading back to Xmas Eve and Xmas day tomorrow and Sunday.

Getting to St Anton tomorrow after a last minute booking. Anyone up for sharing some turns and possibly a guide? Kelskii?
I'll be with my son, who has become a rather good offpiste skier for his age.

Noticeably thinner cover on rendl vs the main area from gampen to stuben, but ridiculous amounts of the fresh stuff compared to a couple of days ago. Today was fantastic!

The ensembles seem to have massively underforecasted the amount of snow in the Arlberg - it seemed that they were only talking 10-15cm, but it sounds like there's oodles more than that fallen.
We're out mid-Jan - how much more would you local folks say is needed to get everything on (and lift-served off-piste) skiable?

Forecast depths are pretty much meaningless as absolute values, there are far too many variables - amount of precipitation, humidity, temperature, snow density, wind, sun - that affect the actual depth, plus it all depends on where you measure the depth too, it needs to be sheltered but also not benefiting from transported snow.
For really good off piste you'd want a few more days like this and some nice steady temps, not warming up but ideally not too cold (large temp gradients make for unstable snow packs). Of course, the best possible scenario is for it to keep snowing at a moderate rate right up until you arrive to build up a good solid snow pack, then a nice 30cm every night while you're there

Yesterday afternoon my 11 year old was up to her waist on the hillside outside our chalet in Nasserein
Was calf deep on various spots on the piste first thing even away from the cannons

Cool, thanks - it certainly looks like the next few days are going to see more snow, then it's warming up a bit with some extra wiggly bits around 9-11 Jan, but obviously that's so far out as to be unreliable at best. Still - it looks a lot less green than it did a couple of days ago!

@andy from embsay, OP will be ok by end next week on grassy slopes if it stays cold (and it will), need another 2-3 weeks on Rendl and rocky north faces to avoid sharks. I'm out end January and super confident it'll be just right, I reckon you'll be fine mid month so long as it doesn't warm up and keeps snowing over next week or so (as forecast).....avoid loaded slopes though if it gets windy.
