Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whilst reading all this speculation about Germany tightening the travel rules and this pops into my mail box. Switzerland is relaxing theirs!

Just shows there is no point trying to second guess!

Update from GOV.UK for:

Change made:
From Monday 20 December, travellers will be able to use a negative lateral flow test (not older than 24 hours) to enter Switzerland. Fully vaccinated or recovered travellers will no longer have to take day 4 and 7 tests. (‘Entry requirements’ page)

@2waterford, recovery certificate on its own is valid for 180 days, with one dose it extends to 270 days (I think that’s still the case for J&J, but you might want to check that).

@2waterford, the 2G rule applies to all entrants from 21st, that changes nothing with J&J it is stil valid until Jan 2nd. The rule for entry has just been tightened to be the same as was required to stay in a hotel.
Edit, later news reports say anyone who hasn't had a booster also requires a PCR test.
Orf.at
Quote:
From December 20th, entry from all countries is subject to a 2-G-Plus verification requirement (vaccinated or recovered and current PCR test). If there is evidence of a booster vaccination, the obligation to carry out a PCR test does not apply. This also applies to Austrian citizens, as the Ministry of Social Affairs announced this evening.

Otherwise, travelers must immediately be placed in a ten-day quarantine (freest possible after five days). Exceptions are pregnant women and people who cannot be vaccinated for health reasons. School-age children are allowed to enter with a ninja pass or similar test certificates. The rules do not apply to children under the age of twelve. Like their adult companion, they must be registered in quarantine and prior to entry for pre-travel clearance.

Also note that, as everywhere, Omicron cases are rapidly rising across Germany, which may lead to changes in the various regulations with little notice.

There is no mention of a 2 week delay after booster for these 2G+ travel regulations on any of the government websites I have looked at.

Hang on almost missed that change. So does a double jabbed and recovered 16 year old (school age) now need a PCR (travelling 27th) as well because I don’t think anyone is giving boosters to people that young yet are they? Just when I thought we had done well to get the second jab earlier than the normal 12 weeks. Obviously we can but just trying to keep up.

So entry requirements now mean 2 jabs plus pcr or booster whilst 2g 2 jabs good 270 days without booster. Fooking confusing, why not one set of rules.

Had a test from Crystal yesterday stating I needed a PCR Prior to arrival in Austria, frantically managed to get one booked

I’ve now woken up to a message from TUI stating I need one within 72 hours of arrival (meaning in Austria)

Does anyone know exactly when I need it?

This is what I see on the Austria info site. Meant to be travelling Monday 8:25am and can’t find a place with availability for pre departure PCR! Bloody crazy merry go round!

From 20 December, you also need a PCR test unless you have already received the booster jab - if you can't show a PCR test upon arrival, you immediately have to self-isolate until you can present a negative PCR test.

I think we need to calm down a little. The key bit on the Austrian Government site (https://www.oesterreich.gv.at/en/themen/coronavirus_in_oesterreich/pre-travel-clearance.html) is the statement:

"Between the first and second vaccination a period of at least 14 days must have passed, and between a second and third vaccination there must be a gap of at least 120 days."

Ergo, if you are less than 120 Days since your second dose, you cannot comply with the statement about boosters even if you could get one.

There is then a second statement that says: "When entering the country, evidence of a current PCR test, vaccination or recovery from COVID-19 has to be provided, and you need to register using the pre-travel clearance form. "

If you try and fill in the pre-travel form and enter a date after 20 Dec 21, it still says you do not need to Register if you can show proof of the above.

This may change, but as of 10.11 CET on 18 Dec 21 things are still good for those without boosters but inside 120 days since 2nd dose.

The contingency appears that even if you don't comply you can still come to Austria but worse case, isolate until you have a PCR negative on arrival.

According to the official regulations, PCR tests must have been taken no more than 72 hours before arrival at the border.

There is no mention of a 14 day non-validity period – in Austria, in most circumstances vaccination passes are valid immediately.

Yes, for Austria from Monday it's tripple jabbed or double jabbed plus negative PCR within 72 hours of arrival. If not then quarantine at home on arrival until a negative PCR is obtained, as also being reported in the newspapaer.

One of our group desperately trying to fit in a third dose more thatn 120 days from the previous dose but more thatn 14 days since the third dose before arrival- such a tiny window before travel.

@Scarlet, This bit Paragraph 1:

"In order to curb the global spread of the Omikron variant, the entry rules to Austria are tightened . A valid 2-G certificate and the additional PCR testing for entries from all countries enables travel to be maintained"

2G + (vaccinated or recovered and PCR-tested) when entering from all countries
Booster vaccination frees you from the PCR test

Where it says "additional PCR Testing" and, "and PCR-tested". All very confusing. Luckily No 2 son arrives 10.30 am on Monday, 90 mins before the new rules come in.

@RedandWhiteFlachau, I'm not sure that web page has been updated (dates at the bottom refer to previous regs, but it might be that nothing actually needs to be changed there), but the Sozialministerium one definitely has changed. It seems clear that if you've had 3 doses, then there is no need to test. If you've had fewer doses more recently, or are recovered, then it gets a bit murky.

Does it change at 12.00 noon on Monday rather than midnight? Unusual, where is that? Nothing I've read has the time on it Confused

@RedandWhiteFlachau, The rules come in at midnight tomorrow, not midday on Monday.

I had my booster 2 days ago and have a 1-3 hour pre-travel PCR booked tomorrow which I'm not sure I need, but now I'm not sure where to get another PCR test once in Austria or if I'll have to quarantine until the result? Travelling to Galtur on Monday, but might just ring up and move it back 2 weeks.

@surfnspear, The govt website only gives a date, not a time, so based on experience I would say it will be 00:00 Monday, because the regs always change at midnight and there is no mention of anything different here.
