Marmalade, You've inadvertantly bumped me from the list. I'll be in Monetier 4th Feb leaving 8th Feb. I forgot, I'm booked
in for the first 3 nights at Montgenevre, for a change. All the best from Billy No-Mates!

snowangel...looks amazing.
To all going on Sat have a great time and save some snow for us poor folk that have another 9 days to go!!! It'd be good to hear some of your favorite routes down/places too.
Anyone have any idea how close to the slopes the Andross Trophy happens?

solstice21, the Andross is a 5/10 minute walk from the bottom of the Pontillas (Club Med) telecabin. Less the a mile out of Villenerve, on the main road heading to Monetier.

solstice21, it's quite a laid back event. You can wander round the pits for free and get close to Alain Prost, if thats your thing. I'm lucky enough to view the racing from my front room. Parking is at a premium that weekend. I've some spare space if you need it.

Thanks for the offer but going with a TO so no car. Not shy of a walk and was thinking of taking a stroll on the evening. I have a non skiing workmate thinking of going to a resort next year just for the AT as he's a motorsport enthusiast. He was asking about transfer and accom prices so although it's a year away I may be able to give some business to snowheads in 2010.

kitenski, in Feb, quite quickly. Less so, if you're prepared to hike.

hmm, cheers, Feb is peak holiday time isn't it, perhaps we'd come the first week of March...
I'm fine with hiking to get the goods! I assume we could also hire a local guide?
regards.

kitenski, if you get 1st lift up after fresh overnight snow, you'll get 2 to 3 hours of top quality powder before it becomes tracked out, then you'll have to search for secret stashes, of which, I may be able to offer some advice. Guides should not be a problem. The best time to come out (in Feb) is the 1st week of Feb.

kitenski, over the new year it got tracked out in a matter of hours, When i went up 2 days later i had never seen the place quite so tracked out.
Feb can be just as bad depending on what week in feb you go. If you can avoid feb (well the later 3 weeks of it) You would be wise too. Unless you like busy piste and queues.

solstice21, i had my first powder experience in Canada in 05 and then last year in Serre Che!!!! they said expect 30cms snow on the Monday..... it was 30+ IN THE VILLAGE! on the mountain it was crazy!!! the snowboarders were having a hoot, took you ages to dig yourself out on the 'piste' when (not if) you fell! I think the piste bashers looked out the window in the morning and went 'non' to the bashing.
The resort is plenty big enough that you will find all the different conditions and pistes you could wish for, i cant recommend enough, although dont want to tell too many people......
When do you arrive and where you staying? Many in your group and are they all boarders / diff levels of experience?
1.5 working days to go!!!!!

boardbiker. Get there next sat, all going well get to hotel at 6pm. Staying at the White Hare (lievre blanc/villeneuve) Bit worried as I read someones review and their flight was diverted in Dec as Turin was closed then a 4 hour coach. Had aenough of that last year!!!!
6 going, 5 boarders and my dad who will attempt skiing, I may join him on skis for a day or 2. 4 of us are decent and 1 has only done dry slope. I want to film/shoot a fair bit so watch this space for a youtube link.
Have fun!

Just about to book lessons for the kids with Ecole de Ski Buissonniere (they were the only school who would offer a block of lessons spread over several weeks rather than one week).
Can anyone offer me any reassurance of their reputation/quality - most of the lessons are snowboarding?
