honestly not too bad, straight up the chair and straight onto the first car arriving. we were there on the chair watching for the first car to leave, though on one day we gave up - friday maybe and just hiked up to the second piste marker up the red slope and traversed into it from there (missed the top 2/3 of the rn but fun lines for the last afternoon.

stewart woodward, I noticed the Face was closed when I was idly looking to see if the 3000 drag was open on Solaise (it is but the tunnel to Fornet isn't), so back to the question are they using the Face or the OK run?
Back to the 3000 issue, will they ever open the tunnel run again? A question for all you other Espace Killy anoraks out there....
Sorry for convoluted post chaps

Radio Val d'Isere has been talking about Face being closed for race preparation and training. There are all sorts of temporary building going up at the bottom of Face, near the big newish bubble lift. There are no signs of race stuff at La Dialle and the bottom of OK.

stewart woodward, are you going to be on duty slipping the course? I'm in Les Arcs that weekend and will ask my brother-i-law if he fancies a trip up to see the race. Seeing the racers hurtle dow the face will be an awesome sight.

stewart woodward, it then explains the little drag above the top of the funicular station to get to the top of the WC run. Presumably they're doing this as a "test" for next years championships. I can imagine a racer going straight down OK but not Face it just seems to steep in places.

stewart woodward, i got first lift and it was AWESOME, then we got the worst news ever, my friend got seriuosly injured and had to go hosiptal. That was then end of my powder. managed 2 hours yesterday afternoon but it wasnt as good as tues/weds.
Its a superb resort, will definately have to come back as I never got to do half the runs I had planned to, and what i did do i absolutely loved. So jealous of you guys that are out there for the season.

easiski, thanks for that, spoke to her a little while ago and she can come home on Tues. Such a freak accident but she was nearly paralysed so was scary for a few days till we knew if she was ok. A boarder lost control on a bump and slammed into her slicing her back open and it was so deep it touched the spine.
Bless her, it was her first ever mountain trip and she had just completed her 1st blue on her lesson and was so excited, and we had planned to meet after to do another gentle run take pics of her in action
Top girl though, she said tonight that she would come again as she really wants to nail it !!!

is it going to be ridiculously busy this weekend all over the ski area with the world cup racing being on or will it actually be quieter because the majority of people will be watching the race ?? Not been to a resort before when this sort of thing is happening so forgive me if this is a stupidly obvious question.

Some half decent powder today. Patchy vis, either sunny or you can't see your hand.
Downhill is cancelled for today I think. They were slipping the slope with about 1 billion skiers, piste bashers at it as well.

Fantastic day, powder really nice in the couloirs where the wind hadn't hit it. Not unskiable by any means outside on the wind hit slopes.
Gorgeous sun all day long, perfect temperatures.
Very nice!

stewart woodward, it's snowing here in Les Arcs as well, but I didn't see any forecast which said it would. For some reason I was expecting a clear day not more snow. Have a good day - I was shadowing in Courchevel yesterday with Gareth and spent the morning getting fresh tracks. Not quite as good as getting paid for it, but almost

Hope Gareth didn't make you buy wine for lunch as his tastes are rather expensive |
So I gather. Had dinner with him and a few others in Bozel a couple of weeks ago and he provided the wine. Very nice it was too, and he seemed to know his way around a wine cellar pretty well.
