Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

it's just HORRIBLE for those of us who were there last week on the ski and board camp, or on the PSB. to think we've missed waist-deep pow by just a week is gutting.

but my time will come, so real happy for you lot. Toofy Grin

My daughter who's been doing her training with Crystal in ADH all this week and is due to be "posted" to Tignes, but did not know where exactly, heard yesterday that she's going to be at the new Riders Lodge http://www.crystalski.co.uk/ski-resorts/france-ski-holidays/tignes/riders-lodge-chalet-terrachu/ they're travelling there today Smile

So a real result for her, both in terms of the snow and where she'll be working.

Only downer is her old man can't come and show all the dudes how to rip the powder, mind you she's probably very very relieved at that scenario - just an outside chance of late March maybe - although we'll nip over from La Grave over the New Year to see her for a day, that's if I'm allowed in the Lodge as I might be deemed too old Laughing

"Our staff have been specially picked for the Lodge, they are dedicated to the cause - providing memorable winter experiences for all who pass through the Lodge's doors. One of the most sort after jobs in the Alps is the NEW Snow Guru."

Quite apart from the horrid sort, that was clearly a lie as they have only now been specially picked! Very Happy

James the Last, do know where you're coming from Little Angel

However you could say she has been specially picked - as in their training which has been all the past week - there were I think 35 of them in the Tignes group - and it was her and one another that were in effect "picked" at the end of the course - think the other staff had already been sorted.............

......and if you believe the precip run - look at the temperature on the operational run too - FL at approx 2500? I'm sure it will be fine though.

Good healthy spike for today/tomorrow though.

Absolutely awesome day today- knee to thigh, light, lovely powder everywhere, with many fresh tracks to be had. It has just not stopped snowing. Below a few snaps to illustrate. Look how much more has accumulated on my balcon (going native) since this morning.

Or 10 dumps, all of which happen to come one after another, joined up by mini-dumps, in the space of 3 days!!

Christmas has come early! I've just been out to buy a couple of new base layers and I'll be packing tonight!

Wow.

Looks similar to when all that snow came down at once in the week before Christmas week in 2008, the time the Alpaka had snow practically covering the front door snowHead. Think it was 1 metre of snowfall in 2-3 days, or something like that IIRC. Naturally the avalanche risk was high too, as it is now (4/5-'Fort' according to Tignes.net?).

Tsshh. I lost the car twice in a *day* in Tignes in the first week of December 2007. Dug it out in the morning, to save time when we left, and had to dig it out again in the evening... Needless to say we left the resort the day the snow arrived.

Ah yes. The first time I ever went to Tignes, 1st-8th December 2007, date fondly remembered Very Happy Very Happy I can't remember having as much in one go as in December 2008 (as mentioned above) but it definitely was two epic Decembers for snow and quality of snow in a row (the weeks I was there, anyway).

Phil_D, that's it, think the lifts were closed for a day or two weren't they? I remember it well because the snow just didn't stop for a few days, much like people are describing now. Then the sun came out for a week but it stayed cold snowHead

Incredible snow fall and amazing how localised. I'm amazed more people on this forum are not talking about it. A few posts but when 10cm was forecast and you get upwards of 150cm in a 24 hour period that is once every 10 year kind of stuff. Couple that with the fact only a couple of cm's fell just down the road and it's even more amazing.

Looks like it's going the same way in 2011!

Hope everyone enjoys it and stays safe snowHead
