Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

In the last two days, so taking into account when it started snowing in the early hoyrs of Sat morning and the whole of saturday into the evening the Tignes website is saying the had only

Lower slopes - 8cm new snow (120cm total)
Upper slopes - 10cm new snow (140cm total)

Seems a bit low considering it was coming down pretty heavy all day?

Val disere has added 30cm at resort level....anyone on the ground in Tignes shed any light on the reality? All yesterdays talk of great powder makes me suprised it was only 10cm ! Cant be correct surely?

??????????

Yesterday was one of the best days skiing ever Laughing Left 09.30 and arrived back home just before 17.00 Laughing Skied around lots of the Espace Killy always taking into account the sun position and saturdays winds to get fresh light powder all day Laughing

The best runs were in the trees in both La Daille & Le Fornet but every run was good.

Looks like more snow tonight to improve what are already fanstatic conditions Blush Blush Blush

No worries. Tignes website is so bad and hard to find info. I wanted to see what options there are for child care of say 8 months olds away from TO's and could not find anything at all. I'm sure there is and I cant remember as when I worked there was about as interested in that as most young ski bums are !

Have a great trip....me there from 26th...cant wait.

Started snowing about 06.30 this morning and snowed all morning with a few showers this afternoon Blush About 10cm of new snow, with more on higher slopes than in the village.

The last few days have been very busy with lots of work and skiing with other ESF instructors in the afternoons.

Monday ; New Ski Bound group of teenagers from Washington, Tyne & Wear. Begineers slopes and lots of laughs.
Afterwards a couple of private lessons, one with SteveW from snowHead A good time but not great viz.

In the afternoon i skied with a group of ESF intructors, first of all down Sache off piste and then to Le Boisse. Fantastic snow and fresh tracks most of the time. Very hard work on Rossignol 9S slalom skis when everybody else was on fat skis!
Skied a gully near Le Boisse for the first time in my 20+ years of skiing in Tignes Blush

Tuesday ; More begineers slopes with the teenagers but great progress Laughing Afterwards a couple of lady clients who amazed themselves by skiing down the Val Claret stade with no problems Blush
The afternoon was GS race training on the stade. (suppose to be racing in La Rossier this saturday if conditions ok)

Wednesday ; Well up the mountain with the teenagers today (Palafour). The girls, who listen and learn go slowly but, turn easily whilst the boys who just want to go fast fall down and provide endless entertainment for the girls wink
Hopefully the boys might have listened a bit more today and will be able to cope tomorrow wink
Another private lesson with a lady on Palafour before more ESF skiing after lunch.

Today due to the new snow and variable viz we did high speed free skiing on the Lognan stade. very interesting wink

I hope from the above you can see that to be an instructor you have to be versitile Laughing Shocked

Tomorrow who knows Puzzled
