Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anybody in Tignes know if they're likely to be opening more lifts over the next few days with the snow that's fallen and is forecast to fall?

From their facebook page:

A few more lifts are opening tomorrow!!! Head to the Tufs, Toviere Aeroski, Tommeuses, Tichot and Grattalu lifts!

So that opens up quite a bit of the area, and hopefully with the snow in the next couple of days a couple more will open.

Many thanks for the reports guys! Looking at some very excited folks on twitter, some saying up to 90cm at the top in the last 24 hours!

Do you think the link will get open this week?

A few more pics from today:

The talk from the snoworks instructors is that the glacier is shut because of the danger of ice fall from the wires, as mentioned above. Tomorrow there may be some more lift opening than there was today (basically the chair servicing double m), but the lack of base still means that most of the runs to the village can't yet be opened. However, there's lots more snow forecast for this week and I think the picture will change dramatically by the end of the week. Apparantly the spaniards should mostly go home on Wednesday- which should make the chairlift queue a bit more bearable if more of the area doesn't open by then.

I would say about a foot of snow must have fallen overnight and today at village level, so once the area opens up further there should be some epic skiing on the higher runs.

If the Aeroski and Tommeuses are open tomorrow on the Tignes side, I would expect the link to be open

More snow overnight Very Happy, approx 5 cm, and even more forecast over the next few days Very Happy

It was a pleasure to ski on FAT skis yesterday for the first time this season, instead of GS skis. The FAT skis look like they are going to get some action this week with lots more offpiste available with the opening of more lifts Very Happy

No sense in taking any risks! Get that base slammed down as quickly as possible.

I should think that for the next couple of weeks, as long as it's cold enough to make it, then make it they will!!

I have only walked over to the display board next to the Aeroski but it is showing Tufs, Bollin (not Fresse), Tichot, Grattalu, Aeroski and the Funicular running. Everything on the Glacier is closed due to 90km/h winds.

I was thinking that but I also would have thought that they would try to reserve supplies (if they are as low as what some reports have suggested) for days when they are really needed. I guess they are just taking advantage of the current cold enough conditions, even if it does seem like a drop in the ocean!

makes sense given that there was exactly 0cm of snow this time 3 days ago. none anywhere whatsoever, other than the man made bit on the double m. its snowed a couple of feet but its not going to hurt to stick a bit more on with it!

OK, if you are coming out here next week you have won the snow lottery. The area is opening up and there is some deep, deep snow out there. Today we skied waist deep (absolutely no exaggeration) powder under the vannoise chair, boot or knee deep in many other places. Pictured below is the guy who took us there: Nick Quinn from Snoworks (highly recommended by the way). As you can see he was a happy man by 5pm. Much more open today, as listed above, but not sure whether more is planned for tomorrow. The local forecast is for snow, followed by more snow. Honestly, take a sicky next week and get out here snowHead

I had better get a real lottery ticket because my luck must be in. We arrive Monday and have been a tad concerned, but all of a sudden it looks great.

It looks like it has been snowing all night and even more is forecast today Very Happy The only down side is the avalanche risk is very high and the lifts will probably open late today whilst the pistes are made secure.

The skiing yesterday was just fantastic, knee/thigh deep powder all over the mountain Very Happy Very Happy The opening of more lifts reduced the queues. The connections to Val D were not open but this was probably due to the amount of security work required rather than lack of snow.
