Hi all, looks like a snow hol might now be back on  We're hoping to book for 27/2 to 6/3 and was wondering what the usual snow conditions were like and how busy the resort is in this week? Loving the pics and can't wait to get back out!

solstice21, that is the last week of the French holidays, and speaking from experience, as we skied that week there a couple of years ago, the queues weren't too bad, as only one region is on holiday then, the rest having gone back to school. We were surprised how quiet it was to be honest.
The two middle weeks are the worst. Snow conditions are usually good too, providing there has been some to refresh the pistes diuring the Feb break.

Thanks Helen, don't think we'll match the masses of snow we got last Jan but as long as it's not churned up mush all week we'll be happy. Lady on the phone was trying to sell me Montgeneve hol.....How big is that resort?

solstice21, Montgenevre is part of the Milky Way, but is stuck at one end. You can ski into Claviere in Italy. It's never been churned up mush at the end of Feb, you'll have to wait until much later for that. Unless there is a heatwave of course.

solstice21, I believe there are approximately 100km of pistes in the Monts de la Lune area. Some great skiing for progressing intermediates. If your kilometer hungry or after lots of v. steep blacks its not really the place. Although if you a fairly competent and quick skiier you could get to Setriere and back again in a day. Sestriere was the 2006 Olympic skiing venue.
Skiing from France into Italy is always an experience and having georgous Italian food.

The skiing starts at 1800m, the south side can suffer from exposure to the sun, but that isn't that late in the season and isn't where the majority of the skiing is. It normally always has better snow than its neighbours of Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx.

Christopher, Cheers but it is now written! Serre Che 27/2 official as of about 1 hour ago. Can't wait.....Normally all booked and really excited already by now but this year has been a rollercoaster!!!!

Christopher, we intend spending a day at Monty in March. We always say we will, and then never get around to it. Made it to Puy St Vincent once, and couldn't get parked.

5cm this morning And now snowing heavy! Yay we're off to italy, The kicker is aleady there for our first official évent! Hope i mâke it over The col in m'y Little car. Bit nervous as last week The car skis out on col dulauteret And we tried to jump The chute de neige At sidé of Riad thank god i wasnt going any faster.

sorry for late update!
friday was a disaster, couldn't get over the col du monty far too much snow even with snow tyres. So i went up here had the best 2 hours of pure light and fluffy pow. Tried to take a pic to discover the camera was dead and unknowingly at the time, then lost my car keys! Still worth it but will never find the keys at it was in a very hidden bit of offpiste that not many people do!
snowed a couple of times since. Very cold and snowing slightly now.

Christopher, yes, but its doubtful i'll find them, and its a bleepy key so its bound not to work. Next time i go up i'll go take a look but my friend who i was riding with already tried to find them with no luck! c'est la vie!

2.5 weeks till I leave the UK and a month till I'm in Serre Che.
Great to see the conditions are good. Briefly watching the football in Lyon this evening which was rather exciting as it was snowing so hopefully the weather system will dump a great load to the south east.
All photos of the snow would be greatly appreciated

snowing all day and still snowing now.
just watched the torchlight decent, winni does it in the chairs, this year was doubly moving as we here in the valley lost a young futur snowboard star in tragic circumstances in oct and the friends of Tao, did a lighted TAO at the end of the decent. really really moving!
Totally great event. if your here in feb school holidays for marseille, you must do it, it is for x fragile!

Been looking at the various charts/models/forecasts as ever to see if this wind drought we've been having here on the South Coast in the UK might change and see that the unsettled weather is set to continue across Southern Alps well into middle backend of next week, think when I made my order it was to carry on all over half term 
Only a couple of weeks to go now and then we're back out for 5 weeks - so hopefully Snowangel might meet up!
How much kit are we bringing out between us!!! The joys of skiing & snowboarding, plus touring etc !!
Have a guide for three/four days March 29th - obvioulsy at this stage have no idea what we'll be doing, La Grave/Nevache etc but could fit one/two more into the group (fitness / ability pretty high etc) - hopefully will do again Dome de Monetier & Combe du Riou again where you end up in Ailefroide subject to sweet talking the Mrs to come and get us

lots of snow this morning,about 25cm, very heavy sure its gonna be a very wet and sticky but fun pow day on the mountain.

Had an awesome day yesterday between the trees above Chantermerle and Le Bez as well as the off piste areas around the top of Frejus. Waist deep in places. A number of chairlifts were not working due to the closing of a few areas for avalanche risks but still PLENTY to keep you happy.
Today was a glorious day and still a few untracked places but a really strong wind at the top lifts was blasting the upper slopes.
