Got mine and picking them up today. Ive always found this place to be by far the best deal anywhere, 670 euros works out at £600.40. The exchange rate i got is 1.1550. There based in Worsley, just off the M60.

I think you need you a new calculator. You got 1.116 not 1.1550

I assume ricklovesthepowder was offered an advertised rate of 1.1550 and paid a whopping 3.5% commission meaning his €670 cost him £580.08 and commission £20.32 meaning his effective rate was, as pointed out by the thefatcontroller, 1.116 - nowhere near the best rate around at the moment.
Unless ricklovesthepowder comes back and says his figures were something different!

Helen Beaumont, I reckon you are probably right. In which case he got away without paying 22p as 1.1155 on 670 Euros = £600.62. (OK, so I'm bored, it's Friday and I've got a calculator). But 1.1155 is still nowhere near the best rate out there (about 1.135 at the moment).

? Got a few Euro last night to pay a small bill @ 1.1402
Point to note this rate is only available on-line and by direct debit with the Euros going into a Euro account. This is "always" to best way to buy Euros. You can draw the cash from any cash machine at 0% convertion as it's already in euros.

Wayne, MMmmm
Interesting if you bought 1,216 euros at a cost of 1,070 pounds this is a rate of 1.1364, not 1.1402. Did you pay a fee?

Sorry, without trawling back through the entire thread, what is the best way to change money at the moment? I think I've used the Post Office in the past, or withdrawn money from the ATM with my UK Maestro card. I think the Post Office works out better but are there better options than that? I'm only looking to change a small amount, around £100.

Actually, looking at that I'm just as well to get Euros through my bank as I don't have to pay commission there.
Thanks

Try haggling. I go around all the money changers in town, and usually get much better than the published rate.

Yeah dunno if the search engine is London centric or that's where the best deals are
For £100 Tesco look to be the best bet, your only loosing £3 of the best
I would go with the nearest as for small amounts any benefit will be wiped off by the cost of fuel getting there

Either way, as queen bodecia has found out - if you only want to change a few hundred quid each year it makes little difference where you go. It certainly wouldn't be worthwhile running a separate Euro account (few, if any of which are free to my knowledge) to gain another 0.005213 cents in the pound for your holiday money. Obviously (as mentioned much much earlier in the thread) it is significant if you start dealing in larger sums but for QB's £100 she's better off just getting what she can locally.
