The ava bulletin on Saturday made for quite scary reading...
we stayed on the Arlenmader lift, and kept doing the itinerary that runs underneath it - was open all day, having been closed previously due to sun / higher temps. Mountain was noticeably quieter than it had been on thursday (a bluebird day with fresh snow) - tho' that may have been due to it being txfer day.

Been to StAnton & Lech for the first time the past weekend, and i must say i had a blast.
* We spent saturday in St Anton, but is was very cloudly & foggy, so not a real good day
* Sunday we did some great off-piste, mainly left of Steinmahder lift
* Monday the pistes were finally groomed, and with the fresh snow as basis, this resulted in some great rides

Pistes are in generally good condition. Some very light snow today (wed) has freshened up things and some of it is wind blown and deeper. Off piste appears very dangerous, I've seen plenty of wind blown slab avalanche evidence, particularly in Rendle.
0 temp altitude has dropped significantly, it was about -12 today rather than 0 which was the norm on Mon / Tues.

Off Piste is very dangerous right now because of the wind sheer.
Today bitterly cold -18C wind from the east , snowing gently.

As mentioned earlier, very dangerous off-piste conditons, but if you stick to the popular runs and avoid steep untracked runs, then it's pretty safe.
Had great untracked powder today, but a bit affected from the wind and the sun is already taking it's toll.
By the way, that Norwegian girl was in an avalanche on the west side of Rendl, south-west of the Riffl I chair lift, the debris of the avalanche went all the way down into Moostal!

Incredible cold sunny days here makes for perfect condtions allround. Next few days much the same. May be a change at the end of the week with warmer temps may bring some new snow.
Gampenbahn out of service today hit by a high voltage line failure, there was a fire (arching) around 05:30 this morning. Not sure how long it will be out of service.

According to some reports from Zams Krankenhaus (Hospital). there are a couple of Scottish guys being treated there who are pretty busted up from an Avalanche from somewhere around this region.
No snow in forecast for time being although temperatures remain cold & sunny days.

Cloudier today, but a return to sun and low temps forecast for end of week. Pistes in v. good nick, although v. heavily pisted everywhere. Still good stuff to be found off piste if you know where to look (I'm told). Fresh snow would be welcome.

The wind direction is going round like crazy (all season) so I dont think the weather guys can keep up !!
It warmed up alot lastnight & today it was -1C to -4C on the hill and probably above in town . It has clouded over this afternoon but still not much snow is expected before the weekend despite what the wetter.at is saying . Freezing level will go up to around 2000M so if anything it will be rain or sleet then snow afterwards .
Very crowded on the hill this week but should ease off next week.

On Wed, Lech was much like StA; pistes in good nick, but softening up a good deal. It wants to either snow decently or return to clear and cold (a helpful insight, no?).

Well, it's snowing reasonably well at the moment, not a huge amount so far so fingers crossed it keeps at it (for you, we're off tomorrow).

There was a threat of snow this afternoon but its gone. Its to warm. Springlike today.
SnowPak is well below normal but holding up.
A serious Dump would be welcome in March when traditionally most snow comes

Had a great week as usual in St Anton last week. First couple of days there had the worst snow conditions lower down that I have seen in my 7/8 visits due to high temps and rain at Mooserwirt level and down. Thankfully it cooled down and was bitingly cold by end of week. Folk there this week should have much better conditions than we had - that said snow was absoutely fine mid mountain up all week. One of teh guys with us had a mate arriving Saturday and phoned on Sunday to say around a foot of fresh. The big dump Satruday meant that we could not fly out of Innsbruck as the flight could not land (wimp pilot  ) had to get transferred to Verona after waiting 5 hours in airport, then 3 hours to Verona and a further 3 hours at Verona airport, finally got a stay overnight at Lake Garda

I am coming out on the 20th for 4 days,temps look like they maybe on the rise by then though.If its dry it will be fine, but having had rain over New Yr I really really dont want any rain
