Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Helen Beaumont, thanks Helen and I'm going to write down all the useful info from this thread (and some hints I got over at winterhighland too). After no sleep since Brooklyn, we're going to be pretty wasted on Sunday but still wouldn't mind sorting out ski hire and lessons for my lads if we get there before they shut up shop.

Swirly, you need to put the information line number into your mobile phone, then you can check if the Lauteret is open before you even leave your warm apartment

Hi I have been watching the chat about the col being closed with interest. We are arriving at Turin tomorrow around 6pm - then coach transfer to Montgenevre. I have phoned Equity and they have said there are no problems at all now with transfers from Turin to Montgenevre. Hope that they are right!
Love the photos of all the snow over there - can't wait! Shock

Been having the big ski school debate over the weekend. With the rates being the way they are it looks like the missus and son will be skiing with me for the week as opposed to ski school a.m. and then family ski p.m. It's a shame really but the drop off on the € rate multiplied over 3 lift passes has quite literally eaten the ski school fund.

We'll see what the end of January brings on the exchange rate front...................

Great to see some tips about staying in Le Bez as that's where we'll be. A few questions:

Is there a larger supermarket in Briancon?
Anyone got children my daughter (age 7) can mix with otherwise it's a month with only adult company?
What's it going to be like during school hols? Any quiet spots when it's busy?
The season pass covers a lot of other resorts - where is best and convenient to visit for a day?
Any good events on between 24 jan and 21 feb?

marmalade, two big supermarkets in Briancon, Geant on the roundabout in the middle of town, and Champion (cheaper) on the outskirts towards Gap. There is also an Aldi on the left before you reach town.

marmalade, Geant is the most convenient supermarket in Briancon, you can't miss it if you drive down the valley towards Briancon. You'll also pass Aldi on your left about half a mile before Geant. Never been half term holiday times but have been Easter & crowds weren't a problem apart from first lift up about 9ish( not bad though). We always head towards Briancon slopes or upto Monetier when it gets a bit busy in Chantemerle/Villeneuve. Never been to other resorts as snow has been fine in Serre Che, but Montgenevre or Puy St Vincent are closest. Sorry will only be there without the kids when you're there, always another time though.

I am sitting in La Grotte (Yeti) after another glorious day of sunshine and perfect snow. Yes, it's hot but the snow is brilliant, there's no ice and it's actually fine, powdery stuff, no rubble etc. A few stretches of stony stuff on Cas Du Boeuf (beef box ?). Magic for December.

Happy Crimbo.
