Went back up the Plan de Violettes lift to check if there was the dog I had seen yesterday on then lift and sure enough, sunning himself outside of the Lifty's station was said mutt. A lovely looking dog, however, I'm not sure whether he was skier/border trained. (I'm sure my wife would recommend this for all ski resort dogs!). Looked like he was enjoying today's sunshine too much.

Ooh a fluffy! I am a heathen and have a preference for long-haired GSDs.

You sure it was a GSD, not a boarder collie?

I fancy a long haired weimaraner as a shooting dog *sigh* but it's not possible to have another dog with my work pattern.

Scarpa, I thought you didn't have a work pattern anymore

A couple of years ago there was a dog that would ride the ski bus around La Rosiere. We were never sure where it was trying to get to as it would get on and off at different stops each day.

Many years ago there was a St Bernard that lived at the Wengeneralp hotel it would get on the train in the morning on its own, come down to Wengen, go for a wander, pick up the Newspapers from the Newsagent and then go back up on the Train back to the Hotel, I assume that the hotel staff originally took it with them on this daily trip and perhaps one day it simply went without them, it was very well behaved and always travelled in the little guards compartment found on the older trains

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I've seen someone on skis being towed by a husky around the Wengen slopes before but have no idea if the dog went up on any of the lifts, but Wengen is probably easier given the train access

It rides the bus (well did when I was there 2 years ago) up through town and gets off at the bottom of the main piste every day as they close the lifts. Then it waits for it's owner who's one of the lifties.
