I have to admit I thought it was a technical issue rather than a bad cut that ended the show.

More or less this. I say this as a skier who really likes snowboarding.
If you can afford to ski or snowboard in the states then you are better off than most people in this world. Snowboarders can't ride at alta. -its hardly a travesty now is it?
FFS they spent so much time ranting over this crap that they didn't even acknowledge Sarah Burke. What a joke.

Me too, my screen went scrambled. Loved the racing coverage, the coverage of Alta was a bit dull- I'm not really a fan of snowboarding (having boarded for a couple of seasons and then reverted back to skiing full time) but I'm even less of a fan of mountain snobbery. Bit shameful that there are still skiers/resorts out there that haven't caught up with the times but frankly I've got no interest in hearing about them! I wonder if they would allow mono-skiers there?...

Has anyone been to both Green Valley and Alta? Skiers complain about boarders ruining the snow (bloody slipping down a slope on heels) and boarders complain about skiers ruining the snow (something about creating moguls... I zone out after a while)
Anyway, as there is a skier free resort and a boarder free resort, which has the better snow? It might finally settle who is to blame. Is suspect there is no difference and both sides are to blame for ruining the pristine snow
but it's mainly the boarders

We're going to catch up with the end on iplayer (soon).
Regarding Alta - as a group skiing with boarders we decided on the day we spent in Alta to split up, which is not a big deal as the other resort is only down the road. However gliding through the trees (it was an amazing powder day) I did spot a boarder, but kept this to myself.
The only thing I didn't like was the lack of any bar on some chair lifts, amazing considering that Americans will sue for the slightest thing.
Back to Ski Sunday, I hope this isn't the start of the programme going downhill (no pun intended) in future years.

queen bodecia,
Dont get me wrong I love the racing too but in a list of BBC sports they are likely to cover it is way down there,so to have any programme at all the 'other stuff ' needs to be prominent( they may think it will generate more interest/viewing figures )
Sunday PM is surely prime TV time so we should get something worthy !
I think High Altitude with racing highlights and other related features is the way forward to get more snowsports on TV.

Just watched the red button coverage as I missed main coverage, it also seems to cut off mid piece, frustrating.
As a snowboarder I did find the bit on Alta un-inspiring, although a few funny moments
"snowboarders make a sound like a freight train behind you"
Yeah that's me on my board pal, "choo choo" all the way?!?
etc
Agree with previous posts, only way forward to is re-introduce a high altitude element, downhill racing is amazing, but there's plenty of other stuff which is fascinating going on like the freestyle/mogul comps etc. I was surprised to see HA dropped a couple of years back.
Also find it weird that there's a few anti-boarder themed posts here, while almost everyone agree's there should have been a piece on Sarah B, who pioneered slopestyle & superpipe, which grew out of....wait for it.....the interest in snowboarding freestyle

Weak sauce BBC with your whiney piece on how unfair it is. PC gone mad. No mention of the fact that boarders can ride 100yds down the road at Snowbird and at about 18 other resorts in Utah. No mention of Sarah Burke either.
& literally chopped mid piece at the end. |

The announcer on South TV apologised for the cut and explained that programmes were now back on time
But I'm surprised that all you snow sports fans hadn't already watched both races on Eurosport. I certainly had and only watched ski Sunday for another watch of it, but it doesn't add much because the BBC use exactly the same images that Eurosport have used.
Obviously Bell doesn't have a commentators booth so it seems he's relegated to doing a voice over on an ajoining piste slightly after each run after he's listened to the experts describe it. I don't know why they bother or why they don't just buy Eurosport's coverage.
I didn't mind the Alta segment as I didn't know about it so it was interesting to find out that there are places still like that.

Ski Sunday a shadow of its former self. Used to be a great show, with trip and resort reports. Now a hodge podge of competitions which I can watch on Sky Sports, and badly judged non-pieces like the Alta report. A waste of Graham and Ed's good talents methinks. Cop on BBC!

IF Ed and Graham have talent, it isn't in the sport presenting arena!
The program was again poor. I don't know who decides the program format but they do need to sort it out.

Re Sarah Burke - I assume that after the Kevin Pierce piece they would of had a report on it bearing in mind that her accident occurred in the same spot as KP's. If they were not going to mention Sarah (will we ever find out) then showing the KP piece was in distinct bad taste.
I watch all the races on eurosport but I also enjoy watching Ski Sunday as I dont have Nick Fellows bellowing in the commentary and its nice to see the pieces in the resort and interviews with the racers...
The Alta piece was interesting as it appeared that their coroprate strategy was based upon what 'the regulars want' - thats all and well till they need to attract a new generation of guests.
Pretty crap to cut the show off like that because two guys playing a pub game couldnt finish their game on time.

Really poor show, think its had its day, Ed and Graham are good guys ewhat a waste of airtime and surely they could be better used on a freeride show, slopestyle or similar.........Hannehnhamm race (seen it live on Saturday on Eurosport, and suggest most people who follow ski racing would have likewise), and they garbled over the presentation to the skiers medal ceremony (why, Cuche had just won it for the 5th time and broken Klammers record, doesnt that warrant a look at his celebration?), Alta (super boring bunch of out of touch old-farTS, what relevance has this to 99% of the UK ski/ boarding fraternity?). Kevin Pierce - good topic but dragged out a bit.
Never mentioned Sarah Burke (appalling given her talent and standing in world wintersport).
Then tech fault at the end, whats all that about?
Come on BBC if you read thism please get it sorted..................!!

iPlayer still saying "coming soon". I guess we'll never see the ending.
No idea what the thinking was behind the Alta thing. It was old news when I was last there about 8 years ago. It was a "so what?" moment that took up valuable time. If you're in Kitz for the FA Cup Final of skiing, surely you do more stuff behind the scenes there, tell us something we don't know.

I was still travelling back from skiing at Cairngorm so would have missed it anyway, but going by the above, the BBC really need to get a grip and sort out the show. Each week the show is on it could be ripped to bits on some of its content. Seems like it's a token gesture.
I also realise the people complain about eurosport timings etc, but at least they managed to show the race live on Saturday morning and stuck to their schedule for it.
Does anyone like snooker?

Looks like if you still feel strongly you should twitterbomb @BBCAnnaT.
Re the Alta article - you don't have to go very far in any skiing demographic (even snowheads) to find a bunch of reactionary old farts who'll say stuff like snowboarders scrape all the snow off, they make a noise, they sit down in the middle of the piste, they're out of control. What they only got a bit close to in talking to the boarder guy was whether boarders actually give a toss and a bit more of the perspective from the younger hardcore skier crowd. There are plenty of skiers in SLC so Alta is never going to suffer too much from its policy and no mention of the fact that its essentially a traversing resort and most users will welcome anything that keeps the crowds down. The most interesting comment was about the "no frou frou" - it's very deliberately not a check me out in my latest Spyder outfit & WC pisten carvers, eat a Michelin starred lunch on the terrace sort of place so no room for the family friendly Red Bull terrain park, ride up lattechinos either.

I'm sure there was another one in So Cal that tried aswell and ended up allowing skiers.
