Poster: A snowHead

It looks like it's been snowing all night according to Snowbizz's facebook page and picture! Not sure how much it's put down though. We weren't completely able to ski to the locker room but could get pretty near, about 20 paces away or so. There wasn't much snow on the slope outside the shops and bars but you could still ski above it, just not all the way to the locker room.

Currently in Puy. Woke up yesterday morning to about 6 inches of powder. Fabulous day. Could still get some fresh tracks on the sides of pistes til mid afternoon. It got very warm later in the day and choppy lower down. Snow conditions much better than I was expecting and the cannons were on the other night so there are some piles if snow to be spread out by the bashers. Can still ski down to 1400, though obviously it's a bit sketchy, but the resort is doing great work on the runs. You can ski back to the lift pass office and then have to carry skis across the mud back to locker room. The new snow (and the about 4 inches we got Sunday evening) aren't adding to the overall depth but it has stopped more of the base melting. All in all conditions are not bad, especially above in the bowl above the main lift.

Yes. There was about 4 inches at 1600 and about 6 higher up, pretty sure there was fresh snow down to 1400 too. But by the afternoon all the new snow at resort level had gone. Conditions today above 1800 metres have been excellent. It's very heavy lower than that. Lovely packed powder on the runs off the Pendine chair, and also on the under used red runs on LHS of piste map. We were the only people on the Draille piste this morning. Heavenly.

jilly, Wow, that sounds lovely! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't get too warm next week before I can get out there.

Oh yes, the strips of carpet are out in front of the shops and cafes at the resort! Talking of the locker room, nice new smart lockers for this year and it doesn't smell like a damp cave any more either!
There are some grass/mud patches on the lower slopes and also towards the bottom of Clos D'aval and Bois des Coqs, but above the top of the Bergerie chair it is still quite nice, and we really lucked out this week with some fresh snow.

Last year we went for Easter and the show was awful, so we decided to go for half term this year.
Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago I hit a pothole on my bike, broke my clavicle and had to cancel!
So basically, can we have less of the "the snow's the best in a generation" posts please!

aterlevich, what a bummer
I was out at Easter as well last year. It was dire.
To all those coming out to the southern alps for half term the conditions are superb.
A proper dump last night at least 12 inches. All the top lifts shut due to avalanche danger.

Last week was good skiing, lovely conditions both on and off piste with not a cloud in the sky.
