I will do with any luck but I'm currently without a laptop. If I get one out here, I'll get some uploading done!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Plenty of snow coming down this afternoon and pisters out all day - looking good for the lifts opening tomorrow! I've no lift pass yet though so, for the minute, it's a lot of waiting around (and drinking)!

Did my first airport run last night in torrential rain and hideously slushy conditions in Meribel. Today we picked up ski equipment (Salomon X-Wing Tornados) and ski passes should arrive tomorrow, enabling me to head up the mountain for my first ever time on Wednesday morning! Still, lots of rain dropping which will mean slushy, icy runs.

I skied today! Had a few hours off work so headed up the Sailure and Tougnette lifts for about three hours of self-tuition. Few crashes and bumps, a lot of snowploughing and (until my pole snapped) some great parallel turns! I absolutely love it! Conditions in Meribel were appaling though - all slush, ice and bare patches. No major snow forecast for a couple of weeks but I am BUZZING!

Astraeus, glad you got to ski at last! Meribel is often slushy; seriously overrated resort.

Insanely icy runs today but took the Tougnette up to Mottaret and skied the Trout back into Meribel - horrible conditions, just crunching over ice everywhere except directly under the snow cannons.
Then went up the Saulire to the first station and did a blue run back down past Rue de la Chalets. Again very icy but slightly more skiable.
Now feeling comfortable with parallel turns on most blue runs and even on steep parts and on icy conditions. Just got next week's rota and should give me 6 of the 7 days for at least a couple of hours of skiing!
Love this sport when you're doing well!

Astraeus, I assumed you were doing a season and were already an expert skier. Glad you are having fun though.

Astraeus, maybe you could chat up some nice French ski instructor to take you under her wing.

Would it be her wing I wanted to be under?
Went ou for a couple of hours again today and today feels like the day in which I made the breakthrough. Altiport lifts opened today so I spent some time on icy beginner slopes before shooting to the top of the Saulire and coming down a red and then a steep, wide open blue until reaching Biche and taking that down past the Rond Point and back to Route de la Chalets and then home.
Didn't snowplough at all today but still catching my left ski edge when turning left but able to recover it now and so not taking a tumble! Very much more comfortable with going faster (actually find it easier).
Will hopefully get another couple of hours in tomorrow and that'll set me up nicely for my full day of skiing on Monday when I think I'll head into Val Thorens.
