Not much for me but a general lack of consideration and etiquette on piste is pretty ugly and can be dangerous, everything else is just an acceptable part of skiing

People who take high speed short cuts through marked beginner areas, treating the novices there as exceedingly inconvenient obstacles. An area above Peisey-Vallandry was bad for that with a well used rat-run traversing the otherwise enclosed "zone débutant". |
When were you there? - Can't recollect seeing that at all last season |
It was Feb 08. The bit in question was people getting off Peisey and zipping through the shaded area on the map served by the Cabri drag en route to 2300. I nearly got taken out a number of times and got sworn at twice for being too slow and therefore in someone's way - I was learning in the zone débutant - course I was slow! I know the person above should give way to the one below, but surely those crossing such a slope ought not to just strike out across it and expect those coming down to grind to a sudden halt for their convenience?
I'm no killjoy, far from it! My only concern is that we should all have the right to enjoy skiing without being fearful of injury caused by someone else's recklessness. When you're not very experienced AND not a carefree youngster, you are far more acutely aware of danger and your reduced ability to take sudden evasive action, so of course it bothers you more.

I am glad I no longer have to ski during school holidays, so queues are not such a problem. I have to say though I join the chorus of those who are annoyed with snowboarder (and skiers!) who are stationary and take up the whole piste or stop just over brow of hill.

I think the only thing that bugs me people who set off from the lift with their arms wide open as if they are trying to fly, and then do a few turns before putting them back down. Only skiers do this, I have no idea why.

People who can't ski or board well enough but get out there and trash the lovely new powder. You know the ones, skiers who just traverse between falling over and boarders who side slip down the best bit. If fact anyone who is on MY snow.

Not really a hate, but more of a funny to see... when people in a group queue up 1 behind the other in the gondola queue rather than next to each other and then have to barge everyone out of the way in a desperate attempt to not be left behind by their friends as the gondola goes past before they've got there (a lesson they've not learned regardless of how many gondolas they must have ridden in their lives).
Half filled chairs is my only real pet hate, and twunts standing on my skis. If they stand on my skis, I don't move and let people go past both of us even if it does mean verbal abuse.

Good skiers who feel the need to ski down blues and greens as if they are in a World Cup race, completely terrifying all the beginners and nervous types (me included) who are on the blue because we are still learning, and are therefore completely intimidated.
If you are a great skier please go slowly around us beginners/nervous ones if you MUST ski a blue. My prefereance would be for you to ski runs more suited to your ability. Lets be honest, if I was on a black I would expect good skiers to be bombing down the piste and giving me the 'get out of my way' look. On the blues, when I'm struggling to master my parrallel turns and have got 'stuck' half way accross the piste!! I don't need Bode Miller impersonaters whistling past my ears and shouting at me!

kyoto49, I think the issue is giving plenty of leeway rather than slowing down. Speed is part of the fun of skiing, and it's much harder to ski a red or black safely at speed (especially if there are people who are "out of their depth" there - not that I complain about that). Obviously, when a green or blue is crowded there simply isn't enough leeway and people should slow down. I think most people who don't in these circumstances are not only inconsiderate but also technically poor skiers who think they are much better than they are.

Wow, a lot of pet hates. A bit like drivers hating the behaviour of a lot of other drivers. I prefer to enjoy my time on the mountain...(I wish I could do the same when driving!)...doesn't mean that I think some of the stuff above is right, just that it's worth a chuckle rather than clenched teeth.
The only thing I do hate is behaviour dangerous to others.

people who ski effortlessly in complete control - obviously have too much (ie more than me) time and money or were just born there
mates who take forever to click in and get hands in poles and check pockets are zipped and check goggles are straight and THEN decide they need the toilet- argggggggghhhhhhh.
just when you think you have the gondola to yourselves two huge guys squeeze themselves in and spend the journey farting
I think i have done the arms out thing too - look - this skiing lark's real easy! Arms come down when i get out of shape after two turns tho.
