Ricklovesthepowder, I think you'd need to Follow the Yellow Brick Road. But it does look better towards the end of the month. Just as well; it could hardly look worse than at present.

Ricklovesthepowder, there's time for it to snow a bit (as it is now) melt a bit (as it will next week) snow again, melt again and snow again before Christmas. Many resorts won't be opening fully until shortly before Christmas even if they're completely buried in snow. The present conditions look horrible, but are very normal for this point in the year. The early snow was exciting but was always unlikely to persist. Equally, super early conditions and bumper crops at Christmas doesn't mean that January/February won't see weeks and weeks without snow - that happened a few years ago.

andytb, my eurotunnel is booked for 10 December. But that doesn't change the facts about weather. We really, really, know that early season is a gamble, don't we?

We have gambled and booked for 12-19 December. Is there some sort of snow dance I can do between now and then?

dlawless, aw - that's a bit cruel. There's still a fair bit of time before 12 December - all hope is not lost. wangan, I hope you booked for somewhere nice and high. Temperatures look dodgy for a while yet.

Exactly what I was thinking.
As long as you've picked the 'right' resort, I can't see any need to be pessimistic/concerned about an early season ski holiday. Even if there are limited runs, it's got to be better than a snowdome!
