Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to ski from Sion?

JT, brian as I was driving and I'm very nervous of roads like that I simply stopped at the first village and parked up! It must certainly keep the day trippers away....if we want to do Grimentz or Zinal it will be staying in resort rather than from the valley.

Charlatanefc, Nice and warm in Anzere that day.....it's on the sunny side of the valley. Grachen looks nice, I'll tuck it away in my memory in case we decide to do the Valais again sometime.

homphomp, a car is best to get the most out of the valley, I think. However, once above Vissoie, we've never felt the need to go back below it to ski anywhere else. My vague notions of day trips to Verbier, Zermatt and Chamonix, as well as countless little stations, have stayed very vague and extremely notional.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

If anybody else is daft enough to fancy the dodgy road, t-bars, etc. etc. of St Luc/Chandolin then keep going through St Luc and park at the foot of the Tsapé chair in Chandolin. It's still pay parking but only a couple of quid a day and you're likely to get a space pretty near the lift.

Top tip thanks......however it looks like Chandolin is at the end of the road, so from Zinal you still need to go up the windy road thru St-Luc and onto Chandolin, right??

Looking at the map I guess Vercorin is the place to go in bad vis?

Hi Greg,

Yes, Vercorin has a good bit of vertical below the tree line. Proviso is that the road from Mayoux to Vercorin is even worse than the one on the other side of the valley. Laughing

You can stay below the tree line from the Grimentz telecabine as well.
