Hi snowangel. Just to let you know, we've paid a deposit for a chalet to be built in Villeneuve due completion July 2009. So the retirement plan is taking shape but we will be renting it out for the first few years. We were in SC during August for a week and we're amazed at how much was going on. Had a trip to the lake at Embrun, saw the new Spa at MLB and took the dogs up the Prorel and walked down, confirming Meisha and Keimi as 'High Alpine' Norwegian Elkhounds (see our friends site at www.malenibo.co.uk for Elkhound info.). Hope to catch up with you one day.

|Bleeding typical, the first time in 4 years I haven't been in either Serre Che or Les Deux-Alpes at this time of year, and it snows!!

Helen Beaumont, I think that below 2000 it is likely to disappear, but above that it may last the season. Please allow yourself a little excitment!

please excuse my absence while its been snowing. I've been in north london enjoying the snow there!
but yes it has snowed here and the whole valley is very white, (but its been raining today at valley level) There is about 10cm on the valley floor. 1ft at le lauzet, but the horses are still out munching on the cold grass beneath.
Drove over the col last night, what a nightmare. Lots and lots of snow but its being blown all over the place. Very very heavy wind and snow on the road.
I have to be honest with you, if this snow, certainly below 2000m lasts till december i will be very very surprised, still its nice to hope eh!

yes today the valley and bellow 2000m is returning to the usual october state, which was really expected. it was so warm here this morning.
I haven't been up the lauteret b ut will be going up tomorrow.

Christopher, it was bound to happen, sorry. Which is why I said I wasn't getting excited just yet. It may hang around higher up though, and a freeze-thaw puts down a good base for the next snow fall.

yes above 2000m it is still white. i was at le lauzet today and there are patches of snow but seriously not much.
if you lived here you would be quite happy with it being above 200m untill the end of this month. Its very different when it affects your life big style!
still i look forward to the predicted snow fall!

snowangel., I know what you mean, even though we are still only visitors, even though we are regular ones. We came at the end of the season to sort out the apartment, clean it out, wash the divets etc, but because we had such heavy snow and no sun that weekend, we wasted it skiing and none of the jobs got done .Such a hardship
