I think the 'powers that be' should take a few ideas from this thread.

I think you could run a ski lock test - visit a notorius resort and lock up desirable skis with different locks then see which set stays put the longest. I saw something similar done with how careful a family could be with a laptop in a middle Eastern city - the people retaining it the longest were the winners.

Christopher, My daughter had a (hired) snowboard stolen from outside an (open) hire shop near the ski school meeting point in Val D'Isere. Major faff involving trip to two police stations (its the Gendarmarie up town you need as I recall, not the local police station on the La Daille end of town) to enable claim on insurance. Nearly put me off VDI, France and snowboarders
So maybe a feature on how much fun it can be going to the police station, with handy vocabulary fro speaking to the nice policeman.
