Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sorry for the thread jack...
spyderjon
, they look amazing but I'm not 100% convinced by them yet. They have too much heel travel before the binding engages and even in the most active setting aren't as active as my BD 02s. I have walked out of them three times already even though I'm pretty sure they're set up perfectly, once when I was about to drop banana on Mont Gele, not really what you want in this situation.
They do have good lateral stiffness and deliver lots of power to the ski ski edges so it's not all bad. Maybe it's just skiing them on 130mm waisted skis that sucks.
Had another look at them, probably not as high as 40mm either.
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks for your response JT. Wish it were as easy as plugging in enough information and the exact right ski was chosen for me. By all accounts the Mantra is a great ski and that's probably the way I'll go. Though I may give the
Nordica
Hellcat another try or a similar ski before deciding. The Mantra at 96 underfoot just worries me a bit for a solid all-mountain ski--not in the powder of course, but more on the bumps. Anyway, thanks.

Anyone have a strong preference for the '08 Mantra with a 96 waist vs. last year's at either 92-94?
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

, This years is both wider underfoot and more manouverable due to an increased sidecut. This suggests it's a more versatile ski but as we all know it's down to personal preferance.....
