Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Frosty the Snowman, the usual (Megève) with laundrette #1. Now she's at uni, she missed out on the half term jaunt, but can now go out of the school hols. You see, it's merely my parental duty and I will derive no enjoyment whatsoever.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's certainly affected my ability to ski in the Lakes and Pennines so far this year. I've only had two days so far and haven't made the effort to go to Scotland yet.
BUT...... its still early days yet. Plenty of opportunity for more snow and it looks like its going to be a snowy week in the Alps.
Going to Cham for a long weekend on Friday, then St Anton at the end of March, then hopefully the last week of the season at Val D'isere.
Wouldn't bet against powder skiing at any of these venues yet !

I was in La Ros in January and had a pretty good time despite the mild weather.
I had intended to do a second trip in March, but all this talk about mild weather has knocked the enthusiasm out of me. So probably won't ski again this season. (But never say never) |
The 2006 / 2007 season has been below-average right across the Alps.
But there are still plenty of places to ski in.
You just have to be more selective.
Head high.
Keep to the Western side of the Alps, which have seen the most snow, and there should be enough to shred right through until Apr / May.
Val Thorens, Tignes and Val d'Isere, for example, should all be good for many weeks to come.

I hadn't planned to put a gash in the base of my skis on their first day out, but a stone (which, any other year, would have been under three foot of snow in St Anton) put me straight there.
