Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

B2s have got enough torsional rigidity to hold all 100kg of me carving turns, as long as my weight is forward enough. In the back seat they tend to wash out a bit. wink

Well I wouldn't learn to drive in a Noble, in bikes the B2 might be a mid engine sized all rounder - CBR600F.

I think that the B2 performs more than adequately for most skiers of all levels short of professional racer. I find that the slight problem that I have with them is that they let me get away with lazy skiing.

I think the reason that the B2 got some bad press is that Rossi kept tinkering with it so it was really a different ski every year. One year's version, can't remember which, was pretty soft with poor edge hold & it took a real hammering which seems to have stuck. Rossi seem to have sorted it now & the B2, 3 & 4 are reviewing & selling well. I tried the latest B3 in Utah & thought it was excellent.

Sorry but re my original post, the B2, like the Golf, IS an OK choice. It does what it says, it looks OK, it skis fine, it's not a B1. Frankly the sales figures speak for themselves. There are more exciting skis, there are skis that are better at off piste, better at piste and maybe better at both. But the B2, like the Golf, is well designed, well built and preforms very well. It suits lots of skiers and lots of skiers like it. It is not a Ford Mondeo or an Escort, maybe a Focus but an entry level model. Escorts are people STILL skiing X-Screams and Ford Mondeos are those weird looking Rossi skis that are made for the rental market.

Wear The Fox Hat, Rocky Robin, IMO the PR is not as bad as you make out. Sure it's soft but the flex is still progressive enough (when skied well) that it can perform brilliantly. I've skied softer fat skis, Factions for instance, and my current skis aren't *that* much stiffer (Prophets). And I like a stiff skis (LPs, Explosives etc). FWIW I found the flex balance of the Gots too soft in the tail and made it feel worse than the blue noodles and the original Seth Pistols, I found far softer (less aggressive, less resonsve & less poppy) than the PRs in snow. PR are still some of the best 'intro to fat / powder' skis you can get and suit a massive range of skiers from off piste novices to hardcore chargers.

Back to the thread.

Well, I guess it would have to be the Porsche ski - it was just a rebadged/resprayed/overpriced Volkl...

I think that the more that I ski, the more I come to realise that a ski that suits all skiers in all conditions is the holy grail, and about as likely to be found.

I can't stand the 8800s, but I know some very decent skiers who loved them. I like B2s, but I know some people who hate them, Metron B5s seem to be very much a marmite ski as well.

Mind you I'm sure that if only one type of ski were available, then we'd all learn to cope. wink

marc gledhill, sorry. I'm loving this thread! See I really like Volvos, it's just I'd never buy a XC70 when you can get a XC90!!

Liking skis and cars is such a subjective emotion, it's quite inappropriate to try and match them up and make everyone happy. Twisted Evil

I still love my B2s, they just work for me. I am fairly light though, but they help me through all sorts of terrain.

parlor, hoi, whats wrong with my XC70, I didn't want a XC90 'cause it's too much a chelsea tractor, the XC70 serves my purpose as a big estate with a bit more differentiation and 4WD!

Which pretty well sums up why they work for me Very Happy (I don't approach skiing as some sort of fitness 'challenge' or 'sport'. for me it's about fun on the mountain, with opportunities to enjoy nice views, plenty of good food (without gaining too many more kilos) and the odd drink or three. A ski that is very forgiving of my faults, and allows me to deal with more challenging conditions more easily is an 'enabler' and adds to my enjoyment.

Of course others who want to be 'stretched' or to extend their capabilities will want a ski that punishes mistakes, or at least 'reminds them' when they get things wrong. Nothing wrong with that. Each to their own.

BTW FWIW I drive a Chrysler Grand Voyager, but used to ride a (Suzuki) Bandit 1200. I chose the B2's for their name* - nothing else NehNeh

*only joking - honest!

K2 Apache Chief 188cn = Rav4. Easy, accessable, light off-roader.

Will own. Scott Pure(GOD-LIKE) 188cm = Imagine, you can build the car of your dreams and make her look like a beautiful woman. Cool

parlor, not sure what they are so can't make a sensible answer to that - that's part of the problem with this overall analogy in that my knowldege of cars probably outstrips my knowledge of skis - FWIW I have a pair of B2's which I had skiied on a number of times before before buying!
