Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

An awful lot of Switzerland is mountainous and it has god knows how many ski areas - and all the bits in between for "randonnee". little tiger, Not wishing to pick nits, but you don't seem to have found any measurements. I'm sure Oz is lovely BTW, but I find it hard to believe that the snow covered area is bigger than that in Switzerland.

easiski.... our ALPINE national parks in two states are 1.6million hectares.... (haven't looked for Tasmania and its associated island territories yet (the islands are quite close to antarctica)
switzerland is a bit less than 4.... TOTAL land area....
Now not all the alpine national park is snow covered in winter maybe (although a fair chunk is) ... but there is also all the land that is state forest, government land, private land etc. (and tasmania etc) .... However is ALL of switzerland snow covered? What percentage covered/uncovered etc?
what number of days is "cover" (or how many snow storms?)...
how deep is "cover"
which year( this year with a drought still ensuing in australia the cover is well down on normal - but some towns have had no drinking water for a few years either - in fact when I left goulburn barely had enough to flush toilets and I think that was being brought from elsewhere)
the above questions make it a tad tricky....
but given the above 2 numbers that are easy to find the odds of that statement being right are looking not too bad....
go ahead and find numbers that prove it wrong - you could if you want to define "snow cover" as 6 months a year of course - because we have a very short winter season....
if I get time I'll hunt for numbers for you.... but I still have very restricted computer sitting time allocation due to displaced pelvis...

I remember flying in a C130 from Perth across the Great Australian Bite to a base near Sydney. Took forever.

Fenland skier - the alpine walking track runs from somewhere near the tip of greece up to canberra.... My recollection is most of that is national park land - although some may be state forest...
Nick - yeah one of the regular domestic flights to perth is late night it is aptly named the RED-EYE.....
I have driven Esperance to Ceduna (the towns on each side of the Great Australian Bight) in a day - 1500km from memory... and it was a loooooooooong day driving

little tiger, I admire the way you switched that round: we ask you for stats to back your statements up; you can't find any; so you challenge us to find stats to prove you wrong - nice! Move over Jeremy Paxman!
